Engine died and turns over when moving steering wheel left and right

My 02 neon died when I made a left turn today. It would not start up. Battery tested and was good and connections. After I turned steering wheel side to side the car finally started up. But this was random and would not start up every time. Sometimes is would crank and sometimes nothing but juice radio etc worked fine and no guage problems. Wires to starter are not loose. It it is the starter why would the steering wheel be involved? Will try to replace starter, but curious if there is something in the steering that prevents cars from starting.

It sounds like your ignition switch is failing and when you turn the wheel sometimes the steering lock pin is jolting the switch and making a momentary contact, you should try turning the key to the on position and jumping a 12 volt signal wire from the battery to the small wire on the starter (only until it starts do not leave this connected constantly) to confirm this is the switch for sure check for 12 volts out of the switch in the start position (it may be intermittent also) good luck and please rate -jeff here is your part click here Engine died and turns over when moving steering wh - 2ea336d.jpeg

Got 2000 dodge neon will start when cold run good but when motor warms up won't start

Nikki is the engine light on, are there any codes, have you had a tune up or any other work done lately.when you say it won't start when warm(do you mean engine will not turn over, or does engine turn and refuses to fire.
If I had to guess failing fuel pump, they tend not to build fuel pressure when ran a while(warmed up) and when left to cool build somewhat better pressure.

My 2005 Dodge Neon lost steering today. Both wheels point in the same direction, but you can't turn them with the steering wheel.

Have helper turn the wheel as you look under hood. You will likely see a steering column joint that has failed.

Ignition key won't turn

Try turning the key while jerking the wheel left and right and depressing the brake pedal. If that won't work try another key.

I have a 88 chevy s10 that has a 2.8 out of a 96 s10 it will start and run but when you turn the steering wheel to the right or left the engine will die so i unplugged everything goin up the steering...

I would say that the problem is going to be under the hood in the steering somewhere. Not in the steering column. Check to make sure that the tie rods are not pulling or pinching a wire.

Cannot get key to turn in jeep. Have already driven it numerous times today, suddenly can't move steering wheel or gear shift and key will not turn. Help!

Try turning the steering wheel (hard) right and left while turning the key. Steering lock , and ignition lock work in conjunction with each other.

The key will turn far enough to start the accessories but will not move far enough to turn the engine on.

try turning steering wheel a bit, or move shifter up past park. Otherwise ignition may have a broken or stuck pin and will need to be replaced.

Key will not turn

Neons are a real pain in the rear,,the part you are talking about is the neutral safety steering lock switch, you can disengage it from under the dash along the steering column,, but it is difficult,,,and you would also have to be able to turn your key to the start position anyway wouldnt you??

2002 Impala engine died while driving, then started as usual

If you were to turn the ignition off when you are driving it would do the same thing. My guess is that a critical ignition wire is either shorting or coming loose when inertia exists through your left turn.

In park turn the wheel all the way to the left. Did the car die? Try wiggling the red wires connecting through the starter, battery, and such with the engine running. Also try wiggling the wires through the steering column to the ignition.
