My wifes 03 camery's electric front seat has gone all the way foward .hwen i press switch the motor seems like it is at the stop and it will not go backit seems like it beyond its full travel stop, help
The first thing to do is remove the plastic skirt around rhe seat,to do this remove the seat movement knobs by prying them off with screwdriver,gental steady pressure works,then remove the screw in the rear( back seat compartment),three screws at seat switches and the side skirt will pull out (four tabs are connected to the mating plastic pieces,pull outtoward you). two screws hold the front skirt on these are tough to get to they are at an angle. with this skirt removed you can get to the motor,
three screws remove the the motor (Isuggest unplugging motor,small connector) on each end of shaft are retaining bushings rotate them toward the back and they will disengage,you can now pick up the motor and the the shafts will come out with it.these shafts disengage from the motor and should be kept seperate (greasey)
I used a R2 square drive bit (the driver used to install deck screws) to find which screwdrive is jammed, I adjusted the other one to its front stop with square driver bit the worked the jammed one back and forth mostly toward the rear and it worked free.
I adjusted this one to the front stop and reassembled the motor,shaft(make shure to snap retaining bushing in place)reconnect motor connector,all plastic skirts AND NEVER ALLOW THE SEAT TO TRAVEL TO ITS FRONT STOP AGAIN. (4HRS)
This is an easy 10 minute fix. I didn't have the R2 square drive so I used a small straight slot screw driver to turn the shaft. RLS
Quick fix if it is the door side screwdrive is the one that is jammed. In my case, it wasn't- it was the console side. Could not have done it without nellieB's instructions- thanks!

Its much easier to take the entire seat out (4 bolts) and then take the side skirts out. Then you'll be able to access the, there is a small square hole. turn it to loosen the shaft. I just did it...I could have avoided a lot of work but at least its fixed.
Found an even easier way to fix the problem on a 1999 Camry. Unfortunately I found this out after I took the seat out. Ugh.
Remove the plastic cover just below seat controls. There should be one Phillips screw toward the front of the seat. Once removed, you should see a little square hole in a round bushing. It is the back side of where the arms coming out of the front/back motor connects to the worm gear. Use the square drive bit and turn to move the seat. When you move the seat this way you will be moving the motor also, so both sides will be spinning and the seat should move back evenly. I only had to move my seat back about an inch and it works fine now.

here are the steps ... .
1. remove floor bolts (4) .. 7/16 or 13MM
2. disconnect cable (under the front of the seat
3. Remove seat, flip upside down and place on trunk
4. remove two star bolts (on on each rail)
5. remove floor brackets (on top of the rail)
6. manually spin the block the star bolt went in so it is about half way between front and back
6. Use pliers to hold the block up, put the floor maount bracket back on, align star screw hole with the block
7. secure the star bolt, repeat for each side
8. put the seat back in the car, tilt back, install the cable
9. TEST the power seat setting , be sure all works ok
10. install the 4 seat bolts
11. Crack a beer and put on some tunes !

1. remove seat...4 bolts unclip cable
2. only remove front skirt (no need to remove side skirts.)
3. remove 3 screws and drop motor and dissconnect white plasic rods.
4. from exterior side manually role back rails by turning wheels . center of wheel is a square. most people dont have square drill bit ( i didn't) just stick a narrow screw driver in there to turn wheels back. only way to make sure they are lined up the same to to find holes to reintall seat is roll rails back all the way.
5. put motor and white plastic rollers back.
6. get seat close enough to reconnect cable to test
7. reintall seat.
Easy fix: 5 minutes. Remove side panel of seat by switches, remove 3 screws (2 by switches, 1 in back above rail), insert small square head driver, rotate 4 times.
You will feel motor engage. Hit switch & done. Reinstall side panel and warn wife not to do it again.
I tried to rotate. but it is stuck, not rotating.

Sonia818 had the solution that worked for me. fixed it in 5 minutes and the seat now works perfectly. the toyota dealer in evansvile IN had charged $50 to look at it and est approx $700 for a new motor which it diagnosed as bad. the internet is a fantastic tool,
Found easier way hit the switch that lifts the seat up in the air let go all the way up and u can see the square slot in the motor then stick screw driver in and turn toward back of seat but thank all y'all for helping me now what's wrong mine just did it earlier while the wife was cleaning the car and thought it was the motor but it was what you all said I just found out a easier way to do without taking stuff loose

It sounds like it wants to move but no motor running, just the pole that runs across the front moves. Sounds like this is a common problem with the 2003 Camry's. Anyone please help, any ideas? Using the power seat, I moved the driver seat all the way foward. When I tried to move it back, it would not move. I am able to move the seat up and down using the same power switch, but it will not move foward or back. When I try to move switch back, it sounds like power seat motor is running, but no seat movement.
My 2003 Camry driver's seat is stuck all the way forward. The other directions are operative. I wonder if I should try to replace it with a used seat from a salvage yard or try to fix the motor. I am short enough so that is doesn't bother me but I am afraid it would not pass inspection.
