SOURCE: Manual code retrieval for 1989 plymouth voyager 3.0 v6 engine

Hi Wayne, what you do is turn the key to the "on" position and back to "off". Do this three times. The engine light will flash. It will flash a certain amount of times, pause, then another set of flashes. The first set of flashes is the first number of your code. The second set is the second number. For example, you see 5 flashes, your first number of your code is 5, and so on.

SOURCE: engine runs good until hot then rpms go up and the

You need an egr valve/egr valve control solenoid. You can get them through Napa, Carquest or Dodge. You may also need the coolant temperature sensor (for the ECM) as it may have damaged this in the process. Very common problem on the 4 and 6 cyl Dodge engines.

Hope that helps.

Why does it take a vehicle 3 times to start and then starts normally

you could have a slow leak in your fuel pump to where it leaks back into the tank at night......so there is no fuel present in the morning and has to wait for the fuel pump to bring it from the tank, while you are cranking the engine because it slowly leaked out/back during the night.and since it is 13yrs old...that does not seem unlikely at that age.

We have replaced timming belt but cant get it to start

Double check and make sure you are set to #1 TDC then verify you have the timing marks aligned correctly. This happens a lot when the timing marks slip and the vehicle is 90 to 100 degrees out of time. If it were 180 degrees out it would start but run very rough. If you replaced the timing belt because it broke while the engine was running do a compression check or connect a small compressor to a line you can screw into the the spark plug holes and see if you have any compression or in 2 or more cylinders have no compression. If this test is true your valves are bent and you will have to have the head rebuilt.

My vans themostat shows it is overheating in very hot weather, >95 degrees going up a grade or > than 100 degrees. If I turn off the air the thermostat returns to normal. I have had this checked out...

Your van is 11 years old and it is time for a cooling system service. Drain the radiator and flush the cooling system. Replace the thermostat in the engine and fill the radiator with a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and distilled water. Make sure to clean the front cooling coils of the radiator and remove all bugs and debris. Make sure the cooling fans are running as they should. Anytime the A/C is on the fan should run continuously. Caution: If you have been loosing coolant with no apparent leak then you may have a blown head gasket. You might also see white smoke from the exhaust if the gasket is blown. This requires the heads be removed and new gaskets installed.

2004 Cadillac Escalade Engine Stalling when idling in hot weather

Given your high guage temps of 210 degrees and high ambient temperature of 100 degrees, your engine's stalling can very likely be linked to either one of these three causes: 1) vapor lock; 2) percolation; or 3) PCV malfunction. Here's a really good diagnostic article that precisely addresses this issue of yours:

I have a 1998 Plymonth Voyager se with 3.3L engine that won't shift out of low gear. If I turn engine off an after restart the transmission will work O.K. for awhile. But problem always come back. I know...

FixYa: Went to a site called USATransdoctor.com

They gave a plan were I should start to find out my problem. First take vehicle to dealer and them run a scanner on the vehicle to see if I have sensor gone bad. Also to check the clutch volume index (c.v.i) to determine the condition of the transmission. Hope all I need is a sensor replaced. We will see.
