My son put a penny in the cigarette lighter and now my radio, dome lights and cigarette lighter do not work. I have checked the 30 amp fuses (they don't look like a typical fuse) for the Accessory circuit with a ohms reader and I am getting a reading. I took apart the dash and followed the wires and cannot find a short anywhere. All the wires look good. does anybody know how this circuit is laid out. I would really like to know what I am missing. I checked all of the fuses and they all look good. I cannot find the fuse for the Cigarette lighter. If anybody knows how this works let me know. thanks.

I dropped a Penny in cigarette lighter on my 2001 acura rl now the radio doesn't work and fuses appear fine

Some radio power sources also tie into the cigarette lighter and power adapters. You mentioned fuses appear ok, if you dont have a test light to test both sides of the fuses try swapping the fuses around from another location and see if that changes anything.. Oh and if the penny is still in the lighter try a ball of tape of the end of a pencil to pull it out.. Look for a fuse listed aux. power or radio/cig lighter. Most likely the fuse is inside the car not under the hood..(usually)..

Check the fuse. I have seen a penny fall into the hole where the cig. lighter plugs into.

99 malibu inop radio fix

Stock radios have 2 fuses that run them.

Fuse 1 is usually labeled as Radio in the fuse box.

The 2nd fuse shares circuits with other devices that are powered straight off of the battery, so look and see if your dome light works, and your cigarette lighter. If either of those aren't working, check the fuse for that item. Cigarette lighters are usually listed as Cigar in the fuse box, and dome light is usually CTSY or Courtesy.

Radio won't turn on. Fuse blocks don't identify a radio fuse?

w/out amplifier; dome, and Cig. hint if you cigarette lighter is working and your dome light is working ,the problem is not fuse is the radio.

With amplifier. Amp, Cig, and Dome; again if cigarette lighter and dome light and amp fuse is good then amplifier is bad, or Radio is bad the only hint in this one is that the amplifier control sound if radio has ilumination then the amplifier could be the cause.

All this fuses are located by the lower left side of the steering column.

I cant find the fuse for the cigarette lighter in my 95 saturn scl. Do you know where it is located and the fuse number?

Below is an image showing that it's fuse #6 and it's a 30 amp fuse. This fuse also powers the chime, fuel system, dome lamps, clock/radio, decklid release. If any of these components are still working, then a fuse isn't the problem with the cigarette lighter. Best of luck.
