0@I have a 2004 monter carlo. The transmission is slipping when taking off and shifts hard when it decides to shift.(all gears) most of the time you have to back off the throttle to let it shift. I put it on the computer, came up as unproper gear ratio. Also changed fluid and it was black, drove it about 200 miles and changed it again. thanks for the help

that is your ttc solenoid . it is your torque converter lock up solenoid. it is located in the transmission ,and to get the it you have re move the side pan on the transmission on the drivers side

I believe your clutch is not disengaging fully. When this happens it may be hard to get into first gear but subsequet shifts are easier due to the fact the vehicle is moving. You probably have a hydraulic clutch system which is low on fluid or may have air in the system. Before shifting into first gear or reverse try pumping the clutch pedal 5 or 6 times then shifting, if it goes into gear easier after this then you probably have air in the system, it can be bled similar to bleeding brakes. If this doesnt work you might be low on fluid, or have a bad master or slave cylinder.

Have the transmission control module tested.

I have been hearing a possible solution for this problem is changing the oil filter in the trans oil pan. But ive been looking all over for a solutionand thats the only legit one ive found. It said when the oil gets clogged it doesnt flow to the transmission as nicely as normal therefore leading to lagging changes

Try changing the fluid in the transmission first this may solve it, if you are not sure when it was changed.

Do you have a CVT? (Continuosly Variable Transmission) I doubt that you do so if you dont, nissans are known to have hard shift into second gear you mean.(Once the car moves, its already in first gear) so if it shifts fine into other gears, I wouldnt worry too much unless it gets worse.
