Try first to jump start the car with another idling car. If you get the car running it is likely a power supply issue. To test if it is the battery or the alternator, remove the jumper cable and then the negative terminal. If the car dies after awhile then you may have a weak alternator or the lines from the alternator may be bad. If it runs it is the battery that may be weak.

If jump starting the car does not help then it may be an electrical issue. It may be a bad starter relay or the starter may be going bad. Heat affects the starter and the wiring. Inspect also the wiring for loose connections or exposed conductors.

inspect the wiring for loose connections. Check the ground wires. THese are the wires that are connected to the engine to the body of the car.

Other than that it could be the starter relay. Check the socket of the starter relay for corrosion. If there is have it cleaned out first. It may also be a bad starter relay.

2007 mitsubishi eclipse hard to start after filling up tank. No check engine light on. Bad starter?

Maybe the carbon cannister is loaded up. Try parking the car facing uphill and see if that's better.

Starter is probably OK. Need more symptoms. OR it will be 20 question time. Takes a LONG time cranking B-4 the engine begins to run? That's what I'm guessing.

Does nothing to take the key back out and try it again.Just keep cranking until the engine starts to run.Don't be afraid to crank it for 15 seconds,or so.

My 1998 buick century 3.1 will not start. I changed starter , I changed the ignition switch , I even jumped the battery to starter with a push button , It now will turn or crank , but ,, it still will not...

THERE IS A CHIP IN THE KEY I BELIEVE. THERE IS A RELEARN PROCEDURE YOU CAN TRY IF WHEN YOU TRY AND START IT THE SECURITY LIGHT FLASHES. HOOK UP A BATTERY CHARGER. TURN THE KEY ON AND TRY AND START THE CAR AND RELEASE . DO NOT TURN KEY OFF LEAVE IT IN THE RUN POSITION. AFTER 10 MINS THE LIGHT WILL STOP FLASHING. TURN KEY OFF. TRY AND RESTART CAR AND AGAIN DO NOT TURN KEY OFF LEAVE IN THE RUN POSITION. LET SET 10 MINS AGAIN. LIGHT WILL STOP FLASHING AFTER THAT 10 MINS. DO IT AGAIN FOR THE 3RD TIME. SHUT KEY OFF LET SET 5 SECONDS AND START THE VEHICLE. HOPE THIS HELPS

2001 sebring convertible won't start or crank has lights and power but no radio tried #8 fuse but doesn't work

i have the 2.7 as well. mine is in an intrepid. Car was running perfectly fine when i went into bestbuy and when i came out 5 min later i tried to start the car and it would just crank n crank. no start though. eventually it started after lots of cranking. after a couple of times of doing this in order to start the car i would get nothing from the startrer. everything had power and everything electrical worked. found out that if i went under the car and hit the starter with a hammer a couple of times it would finally crank again. but i had to do this every time i shut the car off and wanted to start it again. i loive in WI and its wintyer right now so it really sucked to do this. took it to my buds shop and pulled the starter out and dissected it and found that the (i believe they are "brushes") were ground down to next to nothing, the positive ones, do to constant cranking. was going to get a starter from junk yard for 20 befor i knew what the problem was. did some calling around and found brand new brushes for $20.00. i just got those and installed them and had a good as new starter again. lots of dust to clean out of the housing though. brake fluid and air hose works wonders for that problem. but from best buy on the car would not start without starting fluid if it was at running temp. still yet to solve that one. replaced the cam sensor, crank sensor, plugs, COP's and checked the rest of the sensors. still cant figure this out. anyone have advice let me know what i can check. fuel pump kicks in wen the key turns as well...

Car runs for 30 min and then dies ,will run after sitting for 20 min is that the crank position sensor

Not the crank sensor. It is the coil. Coils are nothing but a coil of copper wire. When the heat comes up the copper wire expands and causes the wire to come apart. When it cools it shrinks back and the car will start again.

Security on. car wont crank. can trun key wont

verify that you have a fully charge battery and that you have the same amount of voltage at the battery as at the starter when the key is turned to the start position. If not repair fault at positive cable either at battery or at starter. If voltage checks good. Use a remote starter and turn key to the on position and try to crank over engine with remote starter. if engine cranks over. You have a defective starter solenoid and starter must be replaced.

1994 Buick Park Ave won't start

The security system will keep it from turning over on that model. You need to try a 30 minute theft learn. Follow these instructions closely. Try to start the car, then leave the key on for 10 min. Turn the key off, 2 or 3 seconds. Turn the key back on, do not try to start the car this time, leave the key on for 10 min. Turn the key off again, turn it back to run, do not try to start it again, leave it for 10 more minutes. Then turn it off, and then try to crank it. If it is a security problem and it is not the ignition damaged it will crank. Good Luck. Mike From Texas.

Car won't start it takes numerous tries and then it cranks up.

IF the starter is cranking and it just won't start...I recently repaired an Aurora in this condition. Turned out to be a simple, but really tricky problem. Fortunately I noticed that the electric fuel pump was not running. (In my case the car would crank but just never start) I traced this circuitry and found and intermittent ground connection in the cable connection going to the fuel pump and sensors.

Fortunately in the Auroras you can expose the connection at the pump by removing the access panel in the trunk.

Difficult to diagnose and find - easy to repair.

If the starter is not cranking, could be a stuck solenoid - new starter.
Could be related to the transponder in the key.
Could be the starter relay.
Could be the ignition switch contacts - I have had one of these go on me as well.
