I have a 1990 chevy beretta which is hesitating to start & also as you are going down the road you can feel it missing or cutting out. then it also dies when you stop at a redlight. the crank sensor was replaced about a year ago. not sure if it is the crank sensor going out again or another sensor.

What could cause 1993 chevrolet beretta 2.2l to hestitate while driving

Possibly the ECM. You might check with the dealer regarding updates to dealer service bulletin 902-302-6E.

Another service bulletin:

Engine stall, long cranks & deceleration
surge 1990-93 (33-65-06 & 93-291-6E)

This may involve a process of elimination. Here are some possibilities:

Check dist. cap and rotor and replace. Just fixed one last week. Rotor was causing a misfire under load and coil contact to rotor was worn out down too the cap. Graphite dust from the center contact in cap was all over the rotor causing a misfire. $25.00 in parts or less. While you are there replace wires and plugs. Autolite ap25 plugs 2.99 each

Hesitation , skipping, engine cuts out when accelerating

Im having the same issue I believe. I have a 94\' Chevy 1500 and when i accelerate it will jerk like the gas has cut out but it wont stall. It just jerks and slows me down. It only seems to do it when going up a hill. I feel like it could be the fuel pump or possibly some intake gaskets?
