1996 Cadillac DeVille. Door open alarm comes on and stays on when no door is open. How do I fix this?

There are tamper switches in this vehicle. trunk lock asm and at all door latches. be sure all power door locks are operating correctly,if not,that not likely is the door to start with. there are also cancel switches in both front doors. if alarm will cancel when using door key in either lock,then they are ok. but sure to inspect trunk tamper switch mounted by /at trunk lock cylinder for "open". is a normally "closed" switch.

if you have a visible chip on the key (resistor), the car may not be able to read the signal and go into fail safe mode.

Also try to unlock the car from the drivers door to see if there is an alarm issue. The disarm wire is attached to the key lock cylinder in the drivers door.

When setting the remote to lock the car, my alarm is sounding before I shut the door.
just shut your door first,before setting the remote to lock your car as doing that needs your door closed and switch your interior light to working only when your door is open. your door and that light is part of your alarm.

Dome light on door not closed
You probably have a bad door switch in the drivers door.You have to have the door panel removed to gain access to the switch.I believe it is on the outer door handle.It will have wires going to it.You can remove the dome light fuse for the meant time.Hope this helps.Good luck.

You have to take the door key and go around to the passegner side front door and put the key in the door and then lock then unlock the door and that should shut off the alarm.

Can get out of thieft mode wont start
the "THEFT" light should always be flashing tells you its working, i have a 93 deville does the same thing, but if the alarm sounds alot make sure you dont open the doors with the handle or the unlock arm if the doors are locked only use the key or the button on the remote or buttons on the car door and if the alarm still goes off you might have an electrical problem

1996 cadillac deville lost instruments and died while driving
This is how I fixed it, I took the plastic cover off the fuse box under the hood and found a "maxi fuse" was out and replaced it. I was suprised that a fuse could kill all electrical on the car while driving it. How scary is that?
