Question about 2002 Chrysler Town & Country

1 Answer

2002 Chrylser Town and Country. When we put the key in the ignition everything lights up like it should. You turn the key just to the on position and the the engine starts to turn over, but will not start until you turn the key all the way to the start position. It has been doing this for a few days and now sometime we have to try it a couple of times before anything happens. The key is turning fine.

The Ignition Key assembly has a loose wire at the back. Remove it and fix the wires. The other possibility is that your Ignition Key assembly is faulty or damaged. Sometimes, if the wrong key is inserted, it could cause permanent damage of this kind.
These apply to all cars.

Ok, i'm assuming your replacing them, there is an oval rubber stopper on the backside of the rotor, in the backing plate, located near the bottom. it will tighten or loosen the e-brake shoes inside the rotor, loosen them all the way off, then get a big hammer and give them a really good smack, be carefull not to damage the wheel studs, if your reusing them hit on the hat of the rotor, if replacing you can hit right on the rotor face.
Use some antiseize on the hub before installin your new rotors, and don't forget to readjust your
e-brake and reinstall the rubber plug

first make sure the steering wheel isn't in the lock position, putting pressure on the ignition switch. if that is ok, get the key cylinder replaced asap before it quits completely. (harder to change a that point) what condition is the key in? maybe try fresh one.

SOURCE: 2001 Chrylser Town and Country Van- where are the fuses

There are two in the Power distribution center (Intelligent Power Module) near the left fender shield under the hood. Has Relays and fuses in it. It also should have a decal attached identifing the fuses and relays. Fuse #5 is the 20amp Ign on power and fuse #14 is the batt/constant power. This module is one of the On-Board computers so they call it "Intelligent". Bare in mind this is for the factory stereo, IF an aftermarket stereo has been installed there will probably be one in the harness at the back of the stereo. Let me know if this helps.

Sounds like you need a starter, or you have a loose wire somewhere under the hood.

2005 town and country touring i want to disconnect the seatbelt warning light and chime?

1. Turn the ignition switch to the off position and buckle the seat belt
2. Turn the ignition switch to run (engine does not need to be running), wait for the seat belt light to turn off.
3. Within 60 seconds, unbuckle and rebuckle the drivers seat belt at least 3 times, ending with the seat belt buckled.
4. Turn the ignition key to the off position. A single chime will sound to signify that you have successfully completed the programming.

It can be reactivated by repeating these steps.

The alert will be deactivated but the warning light will continue to stay on will the belt is unfastened.

My chrysler 2002 town and country will not change gears. The RPMs stay at 2 or 3 when going 40 mph. What do I do?

I have the same vehicle, is your engine light on or flashing? Put your key in the ignition, turn back and forth 3 cycles of on off. End in the on position. If you have a 0700 code come up, your transmission is "done". Sounds like it is in "limp mode". Thats what happened to me. Had tranny overhauled, $1800.

Hi, I am having a problem with my 2002 Chrylser Town & Country. When I put the key in the ignition it will not turn - I have to keep playing around with it & finally it will give, but I am afraid...

The pins in the lock itself may have gotten sticky over time; spray a short burst of penetrating lubricant (WD-40 or similar) directly into the keyhole and then run the key in and out a few times.

2002 town and country...how do i find the trouble codes

Cycle the key three times. (turn from off to on)

Basically, it goes like this.

Insert key into ignition.
Turn forward to the 'on' position, the one just before cranking.
Turn back to off.
Turn forward to on again, and then back off.

Forward once more, and leave it there.

You should get a DTC (Diagnostic trouble code) that displays on the odometer.

If all is well, (or deemed well by the computer) you'll receive a message of 'done' instead of a PXXX (xxx=numbers) Code.

If you relay the code to me, I can help you further!
