I bought a 2008 Passat (turbo) about two weeks ago, and discovered there's no owners manual. Since the manuals are selling on eBay for at least $80 each, I assume someone was trying to make a few bucks on the side by being a **** and keeping it for just this purpose. I need basic info on operating the vehicle and a dashboard guide. Can I find this info online? Thanks.

Finding owners or shop manuals are hard, you won't find them free on-line and the on-line manuals that the different sites sells aren't always a copy of the original.

I have had some luck finding shop and owners manuals on ebay motors but they aren't cheap, but if they say they are original - most are. The shop manual for my 1996 Lincoln Mark VIII was $55 plus $15 shipping.

If you are not having any luck in the local auto salvage yards then have a look at vwvortex. When you type that in click on vwvortexforums in the hint box on your screen or when the page comes up go onto forumsmain. They have several sections depending on make and model. Go from there and there will be a forum for buying and selling based on your car. Hope this helps.

There are FREE manuals for many vehicles on the internet. Do a Google, Yahoo, etc. search for "2008 Grand Caravan download" or whatever your searching for. You can also find them on Ebay or from your local dealer (who usually gets them from Ebay). Manuals, remote entry devices, video system remotes, floor mats, etc. are often removed at car auctions and become available on Ebay.

"Free" will be a problem. The best place to find a "free Owner's Manual" is to copy one from another Passat owner. You can purchase copies of the owner's manual from a variety of on-line sources, and even on eBay. Chances are that you are not the original owner, otherwise VW of America may be able to help. Unlike General Motors, VW does not offer downloadable copies of their Owner's Manuals from the VW Owners website.
