On the internet it said the Hyundai Dealer can make you a cheap key for only the trunk, which is cheaper than the regular key if you provide VIN information and proof that you own the vehicle.
If you have another key, or already ordered and received a replacement key, you might still have problem opening trunk, and another person said "Easy way is to press the unlock button on the driver's door. Then the trunk release will work."
Is your vehicle not equipped with an electric release button inside the car to open the trunk. Maybe even a cable operated handle by the drivers seat area
may be manual release behind or under back seat and if not you may need to remove back seat and panal which should let you into trunk. once in there should be a release on the trunk inside to open it. most new cars have them to prevent someone from getting locked in trunk. after opened you may want to have lock system replaced or it could simply just need oiled....... hope this helps and good luck
Lower the back seat and crawl into the trunk and see what the latch is doing when you activate the key fob. the trunk lid will have to be open to enable any repairs. Also an emergency release cable is probably visible (yellow handle) inside the trunk and will Open the trunk lid.
To replace the bulbs you have to open the trunk. I would try removing the panel on the hatch and reach inside and release hatch if you damage the cover get on from junk yard. Did you try turning the key and hitting the hatch with your full body weight
1. Open trunk
2. Place latch in lock position
3. Pull inside trunk release to see what isn't moving
4. If trunk key won't turn, the key may be worn out and need to be replaced
