Tranny swap I have 93tsi awd, the engine is finished! I bought a jdm engine that is a six bolt. What do you have to do to make a six bolt engine work on a seven bolt tranny?

It would depend on if the 98 model is the same generation and shape as the 2001 model. The engine cubic capacity and whether it is a stick or auto can also play a part.
You could do a direct comparison if your dropping one out of the 2001 or ask a mechanic at a dealership.
If the 2001 is the same generation there is a good chance it will swop over. Be prepared to have to make a few modifications though to get it to fit correctly.

Call the salvage yard up and they can tell you exactly what motors and trannys will work with each other.They have listings on the computer on what motors and trannys can be used on certain vehicles.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Totally forget about changing an automatic car to standard. That would be a very parts & labor intensive switch and is out of the question. If you have the same year and size engine this will be an easy swap. Just remove the donor engine leaving the bell housing and transmission in place in the donor car. Remove the engine from your car leaving the bell housing and transmission in place. Bolt the donor engine to your old bell housing and you are all set. Mark all connections as to not get confused. A digital camera will be of help in taking photos of how things are hooked up.

Is it a v6 or straight six? The 302 should bolt up to the trans. but if the engine is a straight six you will need a different k member. I hope this helps.

I dont remember for sure on yours but if any plastic on top take off , take any bolts on top of radiator core support , take fans off , take bolts out of top , middle , and bottom of radiator from engine side. and of coarse hoses. that should be it.

I do a lot of work on Toyota Previa before; including rebuilt engine, swapping engine and transmission and lot of things in between, but never swap a normal aspirated engine to a supercharged engine or diesel. Since i have some experience in Previa, I would like to share my opinion with you regarding your plan to swapping the normal aspirated Previa engine to a Supercharged engine. When you do a swapp like that, you will not only be dealing with just swapping engine, but some wiring, computer, throttle body, air cleaner assembly, extra frame and pulley on the accessory items, transmission as well as a right rear end to get the correct gear ratio to accomodate the new engine and transmission. I can go on even more, but let me tell you this, beside less headache, it would definitely cheaper if you were to find a Supercharged Previa and fix it up. However, if you are totally motivated to do this project, keep in mind, this engine swap will be a long term and time consuming project.l I wish you best of luck and have fun!

B16A2/3: Completely bolt-in Swap, VTEC needs to be wired, SIR II, Hasport shift linkage. Del Sol VTEC for the del sol 2. B18B: Completely bolt-in swap, SIR II, Hasport shift linkage. Del Sol VTEC for the del sol 3. B17A: Completely bolt-in swap, cable-hydro transmission kit(not recommended) or hydraulic b-series transmission, VTEC needs to be wired. 4. B18C1: Completely bolt-in swap, VTEC needs to be wired. 5. B18C5: Completely bolt-in swap, OBD conversion, VTEC needs to be wired. 6. B16B: Completely bolt-in swap, OBD conversion, VTEC needs to be wired. 7. H22A: Mount kit required, Hasport shift linkage, VTEC needs to be wired. 8. B16A: Not recommended! Too much work, more costly compared to B16A2/3's. 9. D16Z6: Completely bolt in, VTEC needs to be wired. 10. D16Y8: Completely bolt in, VTEC needs to be wired.
