88 s10 wiring problem

There are three posts on the starter solenoid. Two large ones, and one small one. One of the large ones has a braided wire going into the starter. leave this one alone. On the other large ones, you will connect the positive battery cable as well as the large red wire coming from the alternator. The small purple wire connects to the small post on the solenoid. Lastly, on the engine block pointing the opposite way (towards the drivers side) is another stud and you will connect the negative battery cable to it.
Make sure that none of the wires can touch the other posts coming out of the solenoid.

check the wires behind the alternator i had the same issuse it was a small eyelet wire or you could try a line from battery to power strip

COULD BE BAD BATTERY POSITIVE CABLE.BATTERY FEED WIRE FROM THE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE BROKEN.YOU COULD HAVE POOR GROUND.YOU COULD HAVE BLOWN ALTERNATOR FUSE LINK OR FUSE BLOWN.CHECK ALTERNATOR FIELD WIRE OR BATTERY FEED WIRE FOR BROKEN OR DISCONNECTED WIRES.

STARTER HAS 3 WIRES BIG HEAVY RED CABLE IS THE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE TO STARTER SOLENOID.THE SMALL RED 10 GAUGE WIRE ON STARTER SOLENOID ASLO IS THE FUSE LINK WIRE TO STARTER AND ALTERNATOR.SMALL 10 PURPLE WIRE GOES TO STARTER SOLENOID S TERMINAL MEANING SWITCH.

need to check the s wire on the starter solinoid for current when you turn your key to start,if the test light come on, and you have current to the large wire on the solioid you starter is bad, but of course you have to have enough current from the battery, I hope this helps you

i believe there is an issue with the positive battery cable.. cable coming from the battery to starter..alternator gets feed from starter battery post..i have seen this problem before..check battery feed to alternator..if 12v is not at alternator main feed wire(large wire)..it will not charge..you will need positive cable from battery to starter..i hope this helps

Check for loose cables from the battery to starter, the negative cable to ground, and wires on alternator, also check the alternator voltage with it running, should be between 14 and 15 volts.

First disconnect the positive battery cable. You already have the bolts out. pull the starter back and down and it will drop out. do not let it hand from the wires. Disconnect the wires to the starter. Pay attention as to which wire comes off what terminal. They must be attached correctly or your starter will not crank after installation. Then the last thing you do will be to hook the battery up again.

sounds like a primary ingnition wire check your battery positive to your alternator and your pos to your starter

in my 88 s-10, it goes directly from the battery to the post on the back of the alt.
