Mitsubishi usually places their engine code numbers on the engine block. They are stamped on a flat surface usually on the passenger side and should be viewable without removing too much stuff. These stamped numbers can be faint at times if the stamp machine did not indent the number deeply. On later models, the numbers are located near the oil filter and below the spark plugs area. Mitsubishi also posted metal plaques on the firewall to show engine model as well.

Good chance it's the plastic coupling linking the rear heater area and the front of the truck. It's a small Y-coupling. Breaks and leaks all the time. Easily exposed to everything, like snow and ice kicking up.

i had the same problem with my 2003 pajero,orange light flashing & 4wd not working.had a quick look under the jeep and found wires damaged just behind the gear box.must have got caught on a stick or something,i fixed them up and its back to normal.
