I have a 1995 RAV 4 GX Auto which I inherited due to bereavement. Despite its age it has only done 60000 miles with full service history. It has stood in my drive for the last three years and I have finally decided to use it. I reconnected the battery and found that the starter motor was jammed. I towed it in gear to free the starter motor, reconnected the battery again and the alarm went off and imobiliser was activated. The remote does not cancel the alarm or imobiliser. I have tried a different battery and replaced the remote battery but to no avail. I think the alarm system is a scorpion . Do you think the fault lies with the alarm system or the starter motor ?

Rav 4 2012 V6 most common repairs >100,000 miles

Your owners manual is your best resource. If the vehicle has received consistent, on-time maintenance. Then it shouldn't need much. You should be due for a transmission flush, fuel service and tune-up and possibly O2 sensors. You should ask your mechanic to look your entire vehicle over, explain that it has hit 100k miles and you want to know what is due and what repairs are coming up. The SUV is 7 years old. Depending on maintenance intervals, usage and the environment. Your vehicles may need a Battery, Coolant flush, Brake Fluid flush. Power Steering flush, gear oil changed in both differentials and transfer case, Exhaust work, Tie-rod, Ball- joint, alignment, Shocks or Struts, Tires, Cabin air filter or wiper blades. Please look at Owners manual Service Interval Chart and compare it to your vehicle repair and service history. Feel free to write back with any questions. Hope this helps, good luck.

2005 chev. Aveo will not shift into overdrive. What could it be?

Due to the age of the vehicle, It is due for a Transmission filter and fluid change. It should have been done at 80,000 miles. Perform an OBDII scan of the stored fault history and look for a speed sensor or torque converter lock-up solenoid fault. The lock-up solenoid can be accessed while the trans pan is off for the filter service

When do you change the cam belt on the 2 litre sport, mine is 8 years old and has done 60000 miles

it should be done by time and miles, even when miles are low, it should be done by age, its false ecconomy not to replce it, as it will cost alot more if it snaps, change it now! asap. then every 4/5 years or 50k.

My 2004 Rx330 is showing maintenance required at 65,500 miles. I purchased the car used at 39,000 miles all I have done is changed the oil every 5,000 miles. What do you think the maintenance requirement...

a major service is due at 60000 miles. the light is just a reminder that maintenance is due. is it the message on the nav screen or the one on the dash cluster? if you want to turn it of, hold the trip/od button in while turning the ignition on, keep your foot off the brake, dont start the car. you will see dashes flashing where the od shows miles, hold until its done flashing. and the lite on the dash cluster will go out. it will come back on after 5000 miles. you can go online to lexus.com to review what the services are and what they involve.

Recommended service at 60,000 miles??

Hello at 60,000 miles you should have all of the following done.
1) Have you transmission flushed completely
2) change your fuel filter
3) oil and filter change
4) inspect your brakes and rotate your tires
5) replace air filter if needed
6) clean your injectors by pressure
7) have your suspension check
8) have your belts inspected
9) if your differential is not leaking. leave it alone due to age.
10 have your coolant flushed out.

If you had any of the following done recently then subtract from the list.
this may be costly so you may want to do little by little unless you can have it done all at once.
