My 2007 chevy impala engine light is on. I got a new gas cap. Auto zone scanned and cleared the car. 2 days later, the light came on again. Any idea what's wrong?

gas cap code p0449 ??? This is not a gas cap code !
DTC P0449: Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Vent Solenoid Control Circuit.. your best bet , take it to a qualified chevy repair shop .
I learned the hard way that you cannot buy a replacement gas cap from Auto Zone and have it fit on a Chevy Equinox. I tried for over two months thinking there had to be some other issue (there was), but soon as I gave in and bought a cap from dealer, one of the codes cleared. Don't try to save money. For a few dollars more, it is worth it. I still have other code problems due to battery replacement, but learned my lesson on the gas cap.
most auto stores such as auto zone / advanced auto[check u local area] scan vehicles for free the code will pinpoint ur problem can b as minor as a gas cap
There is alot of reasons why your check engine light would be on.Take it to a shop and get the codes. This will tell you exactly what is wrong. They usually do it for free.It only takes 10 min.Good luck.
there is a large evaporative leak. keep away form ottozoo, they dont have the brain power to actually diagnose a light bulb., their job is to sell parts., if they sell you the wrong parts tough.Take it to a qualified repair shop that does a lot of GM work or the dealer.
You cannot reset the check engine light any other way than using a scan tool. Some auto parts stores will scan the vehicle for free then at least you will know the area of the fault.
My check engine light was on for a long time, after new sparkplugs and several trips to tuffy auto and almost $500 spent I gave up and brought it to a honda dealer-I HAD BAD FUEL INJECTORS - $700 spent everything ok now.no more annoying check engine lights!!!!
