2000 chevy monte carlo. my a/c unit would shut off or not turn on at all, when that happens my cd player and cruz control wont work either. only way to turn it on is by smacking the dash. what do you think could be causing this?
could be, but i dont know what wire could tie all three units together other then a ground wire...either way I'll look and post back. THankscould be, but i dont know what wire could tie all three units together other then a ground wire...either way I'll look and post back. THanks

First step is to remove the oil pressure sending unit and replace it with an oil pressure gauge to make sure you don't have an engine oiling system problem. If you have good oil pressure you probably just have a bad sending unit.
For the blinkers you need to replace the hazard switch. This will take care of your problem. For the blower,if this is what you mean by heater won`t shut off.You need to replace the blower motor resistor. This will fix your blower not shutting off.The light for the knob you will have to remove the control panel and replace the bulb if it is replacable. Some of these models you have to replace the control panel to get the lights to work.I hope this helps Heidi and let me know if you need anymore help.Good luck.
This may be a bit late to help, but I just had the same problem yesterday. Same car (2000 Monte Carlo SS), but mine is just the CD/radio stereo (no cassette). I was able to solve it by pulling the fuse for the radio (it's in the right-side panel) and letting it sit for a minute. After putting it back in, the CD player made the disc ejecting sound one time (no "check CD" message) and stayed off. And now it seems to be working fine. We'll see how long it lasts, though.
The stereos antitheft isnt armed is it. This makes it so the stereo wont work until it is disarmed by typing in a 4 number code for your car. Its only supposed to arm if the power is cut though such as the fuse was pulled or the battery was disconnected from the car.
