I have a Honda civic 1.5 vtec 1995. Car cranks but won't fire, then after 3 tries at starting stops cranking. A jump start usually starts the car again and then ok for a couple of months. This is ongoing problem and has been going on for nearly a year.

Sounds like the distributor. over time the distributor could get debris and condensation inside it and cause it to act up here and there.

1995 honda civic won't start even with a jump

Well the battery and alternator would not have anything to do with the engine starting.
You would need to check the ignition system to see if you are getting the correct spark at the plugs when the engine fails to start.

92-95 honda civic ex 1.6L vtec won't start! New battery, new main relay. Still no start. As you notice the engine would crank but won't start up. Also the dash lights aren't lighting up either....

Did you get the key switch checked out ? The dash indicator lights have to be on for the engine to start. So you are not getting power to the dash lights, and probably not to the computer or ignition coil either.

1995 civic ex wont turn over

If the engine won't crank, a mechanic would check for power at the battery, starter, neutral safety switch, and key switch.
Also check the ground connections.

Honda civic won't start no crank

Your battery is stone dead. Once started, the alternator keeps it running.

Civic 97 sohc vtec wont start

The need for the trans to be in park or neutral is a safety feature on all automatics called a detente. This prevents the vehicle from starting in gear and taking of out of control. As for the starting problem, if the battery is good and you even tried to jump it with another car the best place to start is at the battery terminals for corrosion.Remove the cables and with some sand paper, not to rough, clean the both the terminal and cable end to a shin before replacing.
If it still won't start than check all the connections on the starter motor. Do the same thing to all the connections that you did to the battery. After replacing the terminals on the battery and starter coat them with a terminal spray to protect them.
