Hey you stated battery low charge. Did you charge the battery after changing the starter? If you were cranking it over with no start, then changed the starter then just clicking, not enough voltage to engage the teeth on selonoid to starter and therefore the clicking noise. The click in the dash is ok. That is the starter relay making contact to give the starter power to turn. It will release when you release the key after start. A battery below 12 volts is enough voltage drop to cause a no start no crank scenario in a car. I would get the battery tested first, this may have been the issue from the start. Also to a battery that gets drained can mean the end of it. It causes all the lead plates to release material that has become separated from the plates and fall to the bottom of the battery creating a short and causing a dead or multiple dead cells. Testing is free at any auto parts store or Wal-Mart near you. I try to go to Wal-Mart for anything free I can get out of them so I go there. They will even print out a cool report on the test. So if no crank now, with new starter, I would check battery voltage and how it tests under a load. And go from there.
Perhaps the thick power cable to the starter is broken. Is it a little click like a relay or more of a clonk like a solenoid? The starter often has the solenoid built in. It's this clonk that connects the heavy power to the motor. You don't usually notice this clonk because it's immediately followed by engine cranking.
So two possible causes;
1. Big power wire to the starter
2. Solenoid not firing.

Check and clean the battery terminals, just went through this exact same problem myself this week! Google "clean battery terminals" if you have never done this before, pretty easy.

does this car have a safety device that won't let you start the engine unless the clutch is pushed in???
if so that little switch on the clutch pedal could be faulty.

It is your battery it may not be completly dead but it is too dead to run the starter. It take 300 -600 amp to run a starter and 20 amp to run a stereo
SOURCE: dead battery but fuse box makes a ''clicking'' noise
did you have the battery light on when the car was running
try a new battery see if that solves it if not then it is the alternator
