This one sounds like a faulty throttle position sensor. If the computer has generated codes to indicate this, P0122 or P0123, start with a visual inspection of the wiring and connectors at the TPS which is located on the throttle body. Disconnect the wiring connector and look for any damage to the terminals. Reconnect the the wiring connector and use a scan tool to verify that the voltage changes smoothly from 1.0 V at closed throttle to 4.5 V at wide open throttle. If the voltage change is erratic or jumpy, try replacing the throttle position sensor. Sometimes, just disconnecting and reconnecting the wiring can solve a poor connection.

You may have cooked the engine.
It sounds like the head gasket may have blown, and you could be leaking coolant into the cylinders.

Jeep cheroke 1998 overheat when the engine is not running but when running its normal what is the problem and give some sugestion to check

i may suggest you to check your radiator cup or better to replace it. and look your coolant extention(reservior) if it is full even if your engine getting hot. those means, coolant not circulating along the system. another thing you must check is your auxillary fan if it is working when your engine is beyond in its operating temperature.

1999 jeep cheroke sport died while driving and wouldn't restart.

i had the same thing happen last year. it was a bad chip. i had to take it to the dealership to have the chip replaced. it cost about 200.00. it was not a big deal at all. after that though, my freeze plug busted and my alternator went out. but now all those problems are fixed. how come when you get a car paid off, everything starts going wrong??
