Does the neutral safety switch control the gears on the transmission

No it doesn't. Any neutral safety switch is to stop a driver from starting a vehicle while said vehicle is in any gear other than P (park) or N (neutral) so the vehicle doesn't just start moving after startup. This doesn't effect the gears any whatsoever. Early US model vehicles had the neutral safety switch on the steering column and was connected to the shift lever. Late model automatic trans vehicles have this switch mounted directly to the transmission shift rod at the trans and mounted to it.

Netural safety switch

Daewoo cars have track record for dependability in addition to solid construction. The most important part of a car's design is the safety features. Circumvent excessive risk while motoring by insuring that your car has the safety gear that you want. A vehicle's Neutral Safety Switch is located on your clutch in the case that it's a manual transmission, and on the shifter in an automatic. A broken Neutral Safety Switch can cause your vehicle to suddenly start in gear, causing vehicle damage or personal injury.

If you don't have the Neutral Safety Switch, your vehicle will fail to work. The Neutral Safety Switch is typically situated below the clutch of trucks which have a stick-shift transmission. The primary function of a Neutral Safety Switch is to stop your truck from starting when in gear. The car's Neutral Safety Switch acts as a safety feature, keeping you from starting the engine if the car is in gear. The Neutral Safety Switch is an electronic part which is essential while starting your car. Here's a link to what it look's like.

What is a neutral safety switch?

The Neutral Safety switch monitors the position of your gear selector lever and either interrupts or allows the starting circuit in your car or truck to do its job. On newer vehicles it may also monitor the position of the brake pedal to make sure that the vehicle is in park or neutral AND that your foot is on the brake.

If your vehicle is equipped with a neutral safety switch, it should NOT start UNLESS the transmission is in Neutral or Park. On the other hand your vehicle SHOULD start when it is in Neutral or Park. If your car will start in Neutral but not in Park, you have a bad switch. Also, if your car or truck will only start by turning the key to the start position and wiggling the gear selector lever, your neutral safty switch is in need of replacement.

The nuetral safety switch is usually found near the gear shifter. If your car has the gear shift on the column, then the neutral safety switch is usully mounted on the steering column near the brake pedal. On floor mount or console mount vehicles you will find the nuetral safety switch mounted near or on the shifter mechanism.

While in park, the car will not start. If I place the car in neutral, the car will start every time. Why is that.

There is a switch that only allows your car to start in park or neutral. It must just be worn out in park. It is perfectly fine to start it in neutral. Just keep your foot on the brake. My buddy did that in his monte carlo for 10 years.

The car dont want to start at the park position.but at the neutral position the car start.

Your neutral saftey switch is broken. This is the switch that ensures the car is either in park or neutral when you start it. The switch for the park is worn out.
