If your battery is good and all of your other electrical systems work fine then chances are it is your starter that is bad. However if the engine turns over but just won't start then you most likely have an electrical problem such as a bad ignition switch or ECM. I hope this helps you out.

  • Camshaft alignment/locking tool - BMW No.11 6 320.
  • Flywheel locking tool - BMW No.11 8 010 (AT version GM-5).

  • Here are some general precautions
  • Disconnect battery earth lead.
  • Remove glow plugs to ease turning engine.
  • Turn engine in normal direction of rotation (unless otherwise stated).
  • Observe tightening torques.
  • Do NOT turn crankshaft via camshaft or other sprockets.
  • Do NOT turn crankshaft or camshaft with timing chain removed.

I have a 320d E46 and it is loosing power but the turbo has just been reconditioned what will be the cause?

i had a similar problem on my 2002 E46 320d, i put it to BMW who changed the fuel filter and a fuel sensor then hey presto normal service resumed! hope this helps

I assuming that you have an E46 bimmer. you can find an exploded view of the m79 320d engine here.
