A bad alternator or bad battery ? (either one can break the other!), because, you need to do some preventive maintenance every year, on the battery cables!
Folks who do not do a bit of housekeeping on their vehicles are the ones who tend to blame the vehicle and call it names... as if any of that helps one bit!
Check engine light on? Take it to auto zone and ask them to check the computer for an error code. Have seen that problem on a Nissan except the dead battery part. Will start and run after cooling off. The problem was a bad crankshaft position sensor. Replaced it and no more problem.
Good luck.

The chime will keep going off if it doesn't sense if the driver's seat belt is not clicked in. It may also be a bad door switch that shorts while driving down the road.
If it is indeed a spark issue. You might have to replace the Ignition Module. On the other hand... check the throttle body to make sure that it is getting fuel... if it's not, you might just need to replace the fuel pump.
I have a 2005 f150 fx4 have replaced battery every winter because when it gets cold the truck won't start, It is not the battery because dash lights, door chimes all work but truck won't even crank (dead). Ford insist that it is the battery.
if this is a 1980 F150, emissionwiz is correct in saying it has a carburetor, if your engine runs on ether, you do not have fuel supply to the engine. Check fuel delivery at the front of carburetor, should be a line screwed into the carb, may be connected by a rubber hose, remove this line and crank engine, look to see fuel is gushing out of the line, if no fuel the pump is bad, check fuel lines back to pump for leaks, replace leaking lines if necessary. If you get fuel then your float inside the carb is stuck, and the carb will need some attention, hope this helps, let me know
1)try jumping the battery.sometimes lights will work, but the battery will supply no where the current needed to start it.
2)the safety neutral switch thinks it is in gear,so will not let it crank over, there is a mechanical override by the shifter.pop out the tab ,insert the key and it will go into neutral.if the battery is good,it should start.
It sounds like it has a high pressure oil problem. does the oil pressure gauge come up while cranking? does it start when cold and not when hot? any check engine light?
