02 mitsi lancer. I start the engine in the morning it chokes a little then dies. When I turn the key again it starts straight away. It starts up fine when the engine is warm too. mini service done.

Before you start it cold, prime the fuel pump twice or three times. Lets make sure you have adequate pressure.

Rough start and idle rough, stalls. Restart it and keep foot on gas pedal at low rpms to keep it from dying again. Once warmed up engine runs fine while driving and idling. Shut it off after engine h

Should be on or near the fuel injector supply rail.

Does not idel well some time engin light comes on missies for 2 secomds

It can be issue with IAC( idle air control valve) causing the problem.

There are many other possibilities causing these idle issues. Engine idles rough.

Engine malfunction light on all time drives ok but when stop at traffic lights etc ref counters go down and stalls

IAC problem . You have a problem with you idle air control valve. So when you stop at a stop sign the RPM goes to low and you stall out. IAC controls the desired speed necessary to keep the engine running.where is this sensor at is at the rear of the engine compartment under the thtottle valve. Here is what you need to inspect for. If you have a vacuum leak in you engine system, the IAC cannot compensate or control and you get rough idle. Check any loose vacuum connections .

My car seems to cut off at random times..mainly after i have taken my foot off of the accelerator. What could be causing this problem ?

Here is the common cause of surges, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

Hello first check your idle with the car running foot on brake see were your rpm reading is if your below 500rpm check your label underhood for your curb idle setting second see if theres a adjustment screw you can increase were your gas cable lever rest against your set screw underhood if you feel confident enough remove your iac motor idle air control valve if the bore were the end of the pintle extracts out to close has varnish builup our carbon it will stick creating vacuum leak type senario causing stalling rough idle sometimes even no start conditions good luck
