Just because you replace hose, this should not have overheated engine. You need new automatic tensioner pulley.

Because you overheat, you need to have a pressure test done, you could have warped the heads.

Replace tensioner, get pressure test, make sure coolant level is right, check to make sure fan's come on when engine reaches temp after thermostat opens. Now after all test check ok, belt not slipping, see if you still lose power.

your timing belt broke and sounds like it broke due to a seized waterpump needs new timing belt and waterpump hope this helps

There is a common fault with the cam belt driven waterpump on VAG engines as they use a plastic water-drive. The water-drive on the pump shaft breaks up or free and no longer circulates the water. Replace water pump.

Yes its the correct name. Yes it should have been replaced..... but its up to the mechanics advice and the customer. its not normally replaced, but I replace all parts including the water pump, just as a matter off service, to avoid your exact problem.

The fan belt came loose while driving and then water started to flow from under the engine does this mean the head gasket might of gone

if the fan is on water pump, then I would say its a bad water pump, look under pump while running and if its bad it will leak from bottom. it may be a hose under car as the belt broke. and it over heated if water pump was not working.

REMOVED ALL BELTS, WATER PUMP FAN, SHROUD AND PULLEY.
REMOVE TIMING COVER REMOVE CRANK SHAFT PULLEY.
. PUT ENGINE IN TOP DEAD CENTER SO YOU CAN SEE TIMING MARKS. REVERSE PROCEDURE. GOOD LUCK

Sounds like timing belt not on correctly. Check timing marks are aligned correctly when installing timing belt. This vehicle should have 2-3 marks to be aligned when installing belt.marks should be on cam gear/ crankshaft gear and intermediate shaft if engine is equipped with it.
