I think your combination switch is malfunctioning. The switches that control both the wipers and the
turn signals are built into the combination switch. And the headlight controls too on some cars.

Your car may have a switch that controls the wipers and the turn signals, but not the headlights.

But whether you have the type that controls wipers/turn signals/headlights or just turn signals/wipers Im not sure, you didnt mention the specific year and model. But you should replace the switch that controls your wipers/signals. They are expensive sometimes, especially if you have the combo switch that controls wipers, headlights and turn signals. But you can find one at a slavage yard for a lot less money than new.


But you should put the year/model of your car when you post a problem youre having. That makes it more likely that someone can help.

It's a little difficult without knowing what year and type of Chrysler you have. There are literally thousands going back nearly 100 years. However, I'd say it's the combination/multifunction switch. Which is actually the turn signal switch on the column. If it was produced after 1996, it's relatively easy to replace. About a 20 minute job. Thanks for using Fixya.

Sounds like the PARK SWITCH within the WIPER MOTOR is at fault, Only way to beat it is relay the motor. Hope this helps

Check the wiring at your ignition connection. The main circuit wire for this is to small and it will heat the circuit up and melt the connection at the terminal. If this happens on the road, move your steering column up and down. This will sometimes reconnect it, temporarily.

Wiper/Washer System Operation

Windshield Wiper/Washer System Operation
Accessory voltage and ground is supplied to the windshield wiper motor and provides the power for operating the wiper motor and logic power to the wiper motor module. The windshield wiper switch supply voltage circuit is a 12-volt reference from the wiper motor module to the wiper/washer switch, and the switch position determines the point on the resistor assembly where the reference voltage is applied. First you need a wiring diagram, free at http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Then you need a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter to test the circuit . Then if your not familiar with automotive electrical systems testing ,go on youtube an check out Electric Testing Techniques You Need to Know Also having a factory diagnostic trouble shooting chart would also be usefull . You could just start replacing parts , you mite get lucky . The wiper motor is a high fail part , so is the switch ..You could find the fuse is blown ! But fuse's don't usually blow without a reason . Short to ground , low resistance . ( high current flow) Also knowing how they work and what all is involved in making them work.

Connect a test lamp from the accessory voltage circuit of the windshield wiper motor to a good ground.
Does the test lamp illuminate?

NO - Go to Step 13

Connect a test lamp from the accessory voltage circuit to the ground circuit of the windshield wiper motor.
Does the test lamp illuminate?

Circuit/System Description
The body control module (BCM) controls the wiper motor based on input from the windshield wiper washer switch. The BCM monitors the wiper washer switch through three separate signal circuits and a ground circuit. The windshield wiper switch high signal circuit is used to determine high speed wiper operation, the windshield wiper switch low signal is used to determine low speed, intermittent, and mist operation through the use of a resistor ladder, and windshield washer switch signal circuit is used to determine washer operation. The windshield wiper motor park operation is controlled by the BCM. The BCM recieves an input from the park switch to determine wiper blade position. When the wiper blades are at the bottom of the windshield glass in park position the wiper park switch will open and the circuit will be pulled up to B+ by the BCM. The park signal will be pulled to ground by the wiper motor park switch while the wiper blades are not in the park position.
The BCM controls the windshield wiper motor through two output controls, controlling two relays which determine the desired wiper speed, high or low
Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)
The body control module (BCM) monitors the voltage on the windshield wiper switch signal 2 circuit for diagnostic purposes. If the circuit is shorted to voltage while the driver is commanded OFF, the BCM will store DTC B3715. If the circuit is shorted to ground while the driver is commanded ON, the BCM will store DTC B3715. Refer to DTC B3715.
It would be best to have a factory scan tool to diagnose this problem . it would make it easier anyway .

I have a 2007 mustang an the wipers wont turn off I had 2 pull the fuse to turn them off can u help me

The windshield wiper motor is a smart wiper motor with an integrated electronics module. The internal components of the motor are the high/low relay, washer pump relay, and the run/park relay and associated electronics.
The windshield wiper motor receives its inputs from the windshield wiper/washer switch. These signals are ground reference signals. When the switch is placed in different positions, various input signals are selected and sent through circuits to the motor. The windshield wiper motor module identifies these selected input signals and activates the motor to the selected function.!
Your probably going to need a new wiper motor ! ! ! But you should always test before replacing parts !

  • Check for:
    • corrosion.
    • pushed-out pins.
  • Connect all the windshield wiper motor connectors and make sure they seat correctly.

INSTALL a new windshield wiper motor. REFER to Wiper Motor in this section. TEST the system for normal operation.

  • In HI position, electric current will bypass a portion of the armature winding causing the windshield wiper motor to operate faster.
  • When the turn signal and windshield wiper switch is moved to the OFF position, the windshield wiper motor will continue at low speed until the park switch outer contacts open.
  • When the park switch contacts open, the windshield wiper motor stops in the park position.
Interval
When the turn signal and windshield wiper switch is in the interval position:
  • The wipers make single wipes separated by pauses.
  • The rotary switch is on the end of turn signal and windshield wiper switch .
  • The length of the pause can be set from approximately 1 to 17 seconds.
  • Length of pause decreases as the rotary switch is rotated away from off.
  • Length of pause increases as the rotary switch is rotated toward off.
While in the interval wiper mode:
  • It is normal to hear a slight click at the beginning of each on/pause cycle. NOTE: When using interval wipers, the first wipe may not occur until after a pause of up to 17 seconds.
