Wont start i have a 89 ram with 318 ci motor. it just died last fall and i thought that it had jumped timing but it seems to be fine. it has new plugs and lots o f fire and gas but refuses to make a offer to start
I have an '89 Ramcharger with a 318 ci fuel injected. It died the other night and I have replaced several parts including the fuel pump relay, distributor cap, and coil and still no spark. I am getting power at the coil on the two leads but there is no spark at the plugs. The truck was running fine until it died, no odd noises or rough idle.

odd, usually if a dodge starts then stalls the ballast resistor is bad, just put a jumper wire across the 2 terminals(white cermic block on the firewall,2 wires) if it runs then replace the ballast only other thought is,have an ammeter? check the back of the gauge, sometimes they burn up and kill the whole system. Don't quite understand why unplugging the Alt. would matter but check these 2 things anyway.
Thes engines are known for plugging the intake manifold with carbon, remove it and get it cleaned out in a engine rebuilders dunk tak and install it back on with a new gasket.
