Turned off engine and when I tried to start it up 3 min later there was nothing, no turning over clicking nothing. Then all the needles of the gauges started going haywire and the headlights were blinking on and off but the windows and the inside lights like the dome light wouldn't come on at all. Never seen this happen before, any advice?

The instrument cluster in this van is really a computer display and it has malfunctioned. This is a common complaint on this van and you must remove the cluster and have it rebuilt to cure the problems. Check the WEB for repair sources. They can also provide complete instructions on removal free of charge.
This is a classic sign of a bad starter. When a starter is on its way out, it will usually start when cold. Once it heats up after a short trip or 2, it takes more and more power to get the starter to turn. If the truck will start with a jump when warm, you've confirmed that you have a bad starter.
Try shifting into neutral and pressing on the brake while turning your key. Sometimes when I'm in park my shifter doesn't make the switch that says I'm in park, if I turn the key...nothing....cause my car "thinks" it's in gear.
Sounds like the starter is going out. Autozone will check those for free. It's just 2 bolts mounting the thing. It's under the passenger side rear of the engine. Undo battery, those 2 bolts and keep track of which wires go where. Run down to Autozone for a check or a new starter.
my 2006 pt cruiser won"t start. the light do come on but it will not turn over just a clicking sound. i drove it for about an hour then went back to it 30 mins later and it didn"t start. just clicking sound.
