The cat could restrict the exhaust flow and cause the engine to run hot.
You would also notice a reduction in power and the check engine light would probably be on.

My guess would be a mechanical problem with the engine, such as a piston or valve.

take a volt meter to the sockets and see if you get any voltage. if you don't, try a continuity test on the socket and see if there are any shorts, blown fuses are good indications of shorts. if you have no voltage and no shorts, you have cut wires somewhere along the lines. i'd say check your relays but if your not getting any voltage at all, it probably won't be relays. check it anyway

I would check e-Bay, you can usually find a replacement top, and they usually have installation directions to do it yourself.

if you adjust rear brakes that will also adjust parking brake

you need an upholstery shop to install it.

Probably just a dirty sensor or broken wire, but you should proably have your brakes checked to be safe.
