When the plugs are black and fouled, the engine is getting WAY too much fuel, constantly. Normally, the computer will put the engine into cold start mode when first starting, once warm it cuts back to normal fuel flow. Since it's steadily getting too much fuel, I'd say it's in the computer causing excess fuel delivery. Have the Temperature sending unit checked for proper operation.
the coolant temperature sensor is the better bet as to a problem sensor
however having the fault codes read at a professional service centre will save lots of money and time
The fuel filter is located in the fuel tank. It is part of the fuel pump module. It is not considered serviceable. It gets changed when the fuel pump is replaced.
anything and everything ,best advice here is to ask a local mechanic to have a look .sorry its one of THEM let a professional look and earn there keep as if you listen to so called experts you will spend a fortune on unecessary parts. As for google and you tube experts ?? or even worse the two pint bar room mechanics, no take my advice this old dinasaur who remembers starting handles and manual chokes and that is call a local man to have a look first .
Yeah.. I have ideas.. .what you observe is normal. The 'check engine' light always comes on initially (until the engine is started) to verify the bulb is good. After the engine starts (and there's no problem with the power train, this light turns off (unless there's a problem, if such a problem exists, the check engine light will come back on).
