There should be a little round circle on the headlights switch with a slit in it All you do is a small flathead screwdriver and it will turn one way one way is off and the other is on

My Brake lights won't work on a 1998 Volvo S70

There are several possible reasons. Obvious ones might be checking for fuses that are burned out. Second would be making sure you are getting good connections to your brake lamps (all 3). Third, check the brake light switch at the pedal. And last, Volvo Part Number 9442303 is a brake lamp failure relay that can go bad. It's not inexpensive, but probably more than likely the issue. One way to check is to find out if your cruise control works. If it does not, it is likely the relay. It is grey and flat on all sides. Earlier model Volvos had round red ones. Check the location in the service manual.

Fuse pops on taillights and brake lights

My information shows, the 4th. fuse is 8A for Turn signals, Tail lights, Heated mirrors:
The 5th. is 16A for Brake lights, Shiftlock, ABS.
You should check carefully to see which fuse is blowing and what circuits it controls.
You are then able to trace those circuits to locate the short.

96 Volvo 850 Turbo. Both headlights went out but the high beams work if I hold the switch back. Turn lights and running lights still work. Dash lights glitch slightly as well

there is a head lamp switch mounted to the steering column. it has died. to access it you have to remove the cover under the dash. remove the four bolts hold the steering column and let it drop down. find the switch usually behind and to the side of the ignition switch. there will be a rod giong to it from the handle. remove and replace the switch and assemble in reverse order

Headlights wont come on

if you have a test light check for power TO the fuse.there should be power at the fuse at all times.to do this clamp test light to a good ground under the dash and touch the top of the fuse on ether side, power should be at both sides.if you got power, remove the headlight switch, test for power at ether the red, yellow or brown wire,if you have power here, turn on head lights unplug each head light test for power at each socket, test the ground at each socket to do this, clamp your test light to the POSITIVE side of the battery touch the other end to the ground side of the light socket if the test light does NOT light, fix the ground wires this procedure is the quickest so do this first than try the steps above

1996 Mark VIII. Turn ignition off and headlights/tail lights stay on for hours. What could be the problem. Help I have pulled the positive cable from the battery.

Problem is most likely the headlight delay switch. See if you can find a used one. It seems that the timing in the switch is off...

1998 jeep grand cherokee limited fog lights don't work.

This means you have a short. I am assuming you are talking about the fog light fuse. Does this fuse blow whether the fog lights are off? or just when turned on?

If the fuse blows when the switch is off the switch is bad too. If the fuses only blows when the switch is turned on you have a short in the wiring or bulb.

I don't know if you have test equipment so first I would say to remove both driving bulbs from their sockets and see if there is corrosion. Fix that problem if there is corrosion.

Then install a fuse without the bulbs and see if the fuse blows. If you have a test light you can bridge the fuse panel without putting a fuse in. If there is a connection you have a hot wire grounding. If there is no problem install one light, fuse or bridge the fuse holder and see if 1 light works. Try each side. This way you can isolate the problem. Then visibly inspect wiring.

Volvo V50 Lights!

I haven't tried this on my Volvo, but found it on a forum by googling "volvo turn off daytime running lights" (without the quotes.

Try the following sequence:

Turn the headlight switch to the middle position "parking light".
Turn the ignition key in position II.
Pull the turn signal lever towards you and hold it while turning the headlight switch to position 0.

Insterment panel light out.

When you say you replace the fuse 3 times, is because the fuse have blown? If so, there is a short in the system and will need expert help to trace the short.
Does the day time running light stay on during day light hours and does the lights comes on without activating the headlight switch during night hours when the park brake is released?
If so, this of course is normal condition. If not then the day time running light circuit needs diagnosing along with the body module circuit. Headlight switch will also need to be tested.
