No fuel to carburator, you have a electronic fuel pump that is controled by a relay,go to the fuel pump it is under left side of the vehicle in the front of the rear tire, have someone crank it it should come on. if it doesnt check for open fuses if fuses are good jump the fuel pump relay it is listed on the cover, if it still dont go on replace fuel pump.
If you can't hear the fuel pump when you first turn the key to "on", then it's not working. ANd if you have spark, then your problem is gas. Change fuel pump.
if you have a 1.8-2.7- or 1.2 engine change the distributor cap and plugs and wires check timing also .it could be problems with the led photodiode in distributor. for the 2.2 and 3.3 it distributorless they have crank sensor and cam sensor. you will need a scanner to check those sensors. check to see which one of theses engines your vechicle have. go from there . your fuel pump relay should be in the engine compartment.
I imagine you have found it by now but just in case, the fuel pump and filter are mounted on the underside of the frame just ahead of the left rear suspension.
