Most likely cause is the motor or the arm bushes are dry and seizing ,the bushes on the bottom of the arms where they go to the linkage ,try some a oil can with engine oil in and trickle some down soak down to the bushes with time and this may cure it ??

2000 VW Jetta.. Wipers will only come up 3 inches and then back down doing this all the time even when wipers are off. Had to take fuse out to stop them. Need wipers as it is raining. :(

New wiper motor needed the self park control is up the creek without a paddle,as its a 2000 model you may be able to repair it if you take the motor off and look under the gearbox cover you will find some copper strips ,this is the self park ? it may be easier to find another motor in the scrapyard

2000 vw jetta wipers move just a little bit on the window is the relay bad or is the motor bad

Sounds more like it would be the wiper motor. If it was the relay they wouldnt move at all.

VW Jetta 4 cylinder, 4 door. Why are the wipers get stuck straight up when i start the car? I push them down to drive.

there is a loose nut to the little electric motor, same thing happened to me or maybe your wiper motor went out if you can hear it moving then its just the loose nut

2000 VW jetta VR6 windshield wipers wont work

first try the fues box see if you have a blown fues, next if you put your wipers on can you hear the motor running for them? if you can the linkage has poped off from the motor, its a bit awkward to get it back on and no gaurentee that it will saty on, you might have to replace linkage, or, it might be the cogs on the actual wiper arms have splayed and are now smooth so they dont grip to move, you can take them off by the nut on the arm , get a can (coke can or simular) cut a rectangle out of it the hight and width if the cog, rap it round the cog, (make sure it does not overlap on the ends) and force the arm back into place and then do the nut up, this is just a short quick fix if that is the case you will have to replace the motor, also you can check the relay to the motor in the fues box, give it a tap a couple of times it might work again if not replace it...hope you find these sugestions helpful

Wiper motor running but wipers not?

probably a bad link see if you can find it by moving the driver wiper by hand if both move then the link to the motor is bad if only one moves either loose arm nuts or wiper to wiper link is bad
