Probably the inertia switch for the fuel pump..You owners manual should show you where its located..See if the button has pop up ..If it has push it back down until it clicks..If it wont stay down then hold it down and see if it will start..If it does you will have to replace it..If thats all good then check the relay for the fuel pump..
I did the same thing , I replaced the fuel pump but didn't change the fuel filter but I did change the fuel pump relay, my mechanic at midas said changing the filter won't fix the problem. The truck does not show any codes or any check engine lights are on, so he said that's what makes it hard to diagnose the problem . The truck runs great for a few weeks then it just doesn't want to crank the next day ,I let the truck sit for a day then the truck fires rite up with no problem. I keep the maintenance up on this truck very well its a 03 with 110,000 miles on it . There has to be someone with a solution to our problem can't go to Ford I'll have to take out a second mortgage to pay them guys, someone please help us.
When you say it wont crank..Do you mean it will turn over but not crank or do you mean the starter motor will not engage..If it turns over but not start,,then look see if your security light is flashing rapidly..And yes a fuel filter can cause problems like that if its turning over but not starting..Plus you should have replaced every 20000 miles at the most..
