does it have spark? you may want to check for this and make sure its getting to the plugs. check a plug to see if is wet with gas. if you dont think its getting gas, check and see if you have fuel pressure. if its ok you need a noid light to make sure you are getting a pulse to the fuel injector. if you have fuel and spark, the only other thing is air. if the timing belt is good and the catalytic converter isnt clogged, it should be sucking air (vacum). if the plugs are wet, it may be flooded
change the ignition pick up coil assembly normally located on the distributor under the rotor on the bottom of the distributor or just replace the distributor
If it cranks it turns over just to clarify. The plugs may be fuel fouled and not sparking inside the cylinders. Its possible one of the injectors is shorted to ground and making all of the injectors stay open. I would pull the plugs and see if they are wet or dry, if wet unplug the pump relay and try another set of plugs to dry out the cylinders. If you can get it started, try putting the pump relay back in.
If this is a sudden occurrence and nothing suspicious happened prior, you most likely lost either gas or spark to the engine. You need to check for both.
Do you hear the fuel pump in the gas tank buzz on for a couple of seconds when you turn the ignition key to ON? Unless the fuel pump turns on and puts gas under high pressure at the fuel injectors, the engine cylinders won't get gas to start. Correct fuel pressure is crucial to know if you have a fuel pump (or fuel filter) problem. If the pressure is correct, it is probably not a fuel problem but a spark problem, although there are less common instances where a fuel injector circuit may malfunction.
The ignition system not producing spark at the spark plugs is the other common problem of no starts. Buy a cheap spark tester at a parts store, plug it into one of your spark plug wires, then crank the engine over and watch for a strong blue spark. You might need a helper to do this. If you see a consistent spark, the ignition system is probably good, although you should probably check more than just one plug wire-sometimes one bad ignition coil in a coil pack will cause no starting. Good luck.
When the problem is ongoing, check the basics. Make sure battery has full charge. When the problem is ongoing if it cranks good but won't start, Have a helper crank it while you check for spark at the plugs. If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure. Also, check fuel injector pulse.
Trying to find what is missing, fuel--spark--whatever. I can only help with testing, you have to do the testing.
An injector pulse tester is called a "noid light". You plug it into the injector connector, and, cranking, it should flash, or blink. Try it on each injector connector.Buy them from any parts store. Blinking light means you are getting power to the injectors. The igniter tells the computer when to ground the injector signal, so it will operate and spray fuel into your cylinder. goodluck.
No engine lights? If not, then could be a clogged fuel filter, easy fix. Probably not the fuel pressure regulator, but maybe the fuel pump.. Another cheap fix is fuel injector cleaner...listen for even ticking sound in fuel injectors.
It is easier to check the ignition system first....spark plugs and wires, and coil. You can check these out with a cheap OHM meter and the cars manual for the numbers. Buy a cheap spark tester to check each spark. All of these things can be fixed at home pretty cheap. Good luck.
check cold start injector relay and injector. are u sure that fuel pump is good? can u hear it come on when key is turn to on ? it should come on for about a second if yes check for fuel from injectors , pull one injector put from head point into glass jar remove rubber boot from air flow sensor assembly, pull fuel pump relay and install jumper so fuel pump contiously runs then using a magnet pull up on air flow sensor fuel should be coming out of injector in a cone shape.
tried drying plugs out, no good,,new plugs, rotor, cap,,get good spark
