1495 code came up on pt cruiser 2001, before it came up noticed not getting good gas milage anymore it began drinking the fuel. Then right before the light came on the air condition began not blowing out air good, it was on high and verly coming out. what is it and how can i fix it. thanks

this instruction is general for all vehicles. i am sorry that i do not have particularly for your 2001 chrysler PT cruiser.

first, identify the alternator.
remove the fan belt on the alternator,
label and remove all wires that is attached to it.
remove all bolts that is holding it.
remove the old alternator.

do the reverse on installing it.

check to see if the serpantine belt is still there. It sounds like like it broke. this belt runs all of the accesories on the vehicle including the water pump. So if this happened it probably starting running hot too
