I parked my 95 Lexus 400 this morning, turned the wheels to the left to make them straight. I went back to start my car, and the key will not turn at all. I can barely get the wheels to turn. PLEASE HELP.

If the ignition lock cylinder hasn't broken internally, try this:
grasp the steering wheel. Apply turning pressure (like trying to turn the wheel) while turning the key. Key should turn. If not, your ignition lock cylinder may be defective.

Key wont turn front or back in my pontiac grand am 95 it was working fine in the morn then went to turn my car on at lunch and key wouldnt turn any advice?

sometimes if the steering wheel locked with pressure on it ( like being parked on an incline with the wheels turned or with the front tires against a curb the steering wheel locking pin will make it difficult to turn the ignition not saying this is in your case can also try wiggling the keep in and out up and down (gently as to not snap the key off) while try to turn it forward

Locks up

Hi,
1. Ensure the gearshift lever is fully in Park. Put foot on brake and move lever fully into Park and try to turn key.

2. Ensure steering wheel isn't locked. Put key in and turn steering wheel to the left and/or right to see if key will turn.

DO NOT FORCE KEY or it may break!

What does it mean when my key will not turn when i try to turn it on?

Check your key for wear and try your spare key. Keys are made of soft brass and the teeth wear as the car ages. You can have a perfect brand new key cut to code if your key is worn or damaged, but try your spare first to see if this is the cause..

If the car is parked with teh wheels offset the steering wheel lock can also put pressure on the key system so try rotating the wheel slightly right or left

Same Problem-My 2006 GX470 won't start -Key won't turn.

Had the same issue with my wife's 2005 Lexus GX470. The issue is that the shifter is not in park (even though it seems it is). The other issue is that without the key turned, you can not move the shifter to neutral. If you look closely at the gear shift, on the left above the P (Park Symbol) there is a small rectangular box that has a **** on one side. _862.jpgTake a small screwdriver and lift the plastic cover which will reveal a button. With your foot on the brake, push the button with one hand and now you will be able to move the shifter to neutral with the other hand. Now, put it back in park and you should now be able to turn your key and start your car. Put the little piece of plastic you removed over the button and go on your way.

Locked steering wheel.

If your key won't turn, you can move the steering wheel back and forth until it does or try to hold the steering wheel to the left or right while turning the key. This happened with my car when I parked with my wheels turned in. Now I make sure the steering wheel and my wheels are straight when I park.

Gear stuck in park

Turn the key to the left as hard as you can, as you turn the keys see if that works.
