You have to replace the battery to get the key out or use a booster pack under the hood. there is a red and black jumper post under the hood you can hook a booster pack to and then once that is hooked up you can remove the key from the ignition

Why can't I remove the key from the ignition of my 2007 CTS? I can't even turn the ignition all the way to the off position

Make sure transmission is in Park. Key will not come out until ignition is fully off and ignition will not turn fully off until gear selector is in park

Replaced battery with a new one and still the keys are locking up into the ignition and car will not start like battery is dead

You need to bring your car to the dealer then and only then it will start because you are basically at the mercy of Cadillac you need your computer reflashed and updated with new firmware and it can\'t b done at home I know this sucks but stop wasting your time like all of the other people on fixya and listen to what I\'m saying if you don\'t then your car will not run agian until it sees a dealer thanx Chris

Have 2004 s40 Volvo. Turned car off, left key in ignition about 5 minutes. Car has been running great, went to take key out, dash light would come on, key would turn but couldn't take key out of...

the key lost synchronization with the the computer. its a common problem with these new high security systems they're very sensitive. this made the battery die, next step is to take the car to the dealer, dont try to start the car anymore. if you have any questions call Priority Automotive Locksmith 866 999 7858

Battery fully charged, car wont start, cant remove key, 2004 cadillac cts

There is a magnetic switch on the 'park' position. The car only starts or releases the key in 'park' is enabled. Maybe this switch is not working! Try to replace it!

My key is stuck in the ignition of my 2006 cadillac cts

2005 CTS 3.6 Dead battery, key stuck, service anti theft and nothing happens when you turn key, Ttried everything, ECM reset, key memory reset, charged battery to 12.7 volts, locked door w remote and opened w key, anyway you get the idea. After 3 days of online reading and trying, THIS IS WHAT WORKED, 1. put key into on position 2. removed sarter relay from front fuse panel 3. jumped 1st pin closest to fender and passenger seat with pin that is closest to motor and front fender. I used a paper clip and just made contact long enough for car to start. ran car for five minutes and took key out and everything went back to normal. then I took car to advance auto parts to have engine light reset. if car does not go back to normal you have ECM (car computer) failure. video on YouTube under "no crank, no start"

Can't remove key from ignition. Battery seems to be dead but sparks when I put the charger on. Still can't remove key.

Tumblers broke in the ignition and have caused the ignition to "lock up". You need to replace the ignition assembly.

Key is stuck in the ignition of our 07 GMC Acadia. The blinkers are not working at the rear of the vehicle, windows will not work. All of this happened at once.

The same thing happened to me yesterday. My blinkers are not working, windows will not roll down, automatic seats wil not move, and my key is stuck in the ignition. The battery was almost dead so my husband changed it; however, the problem still exists. What was the solution with your car? Thanks:)

96 camaro

could be ign switch, relay, fuse, bad starter, corrosion on the battery cables, faulty starter cable, bad battery, corrosion on the starter, dead battery, bad alternator that allowed the battery to go dead, wrong key, bad key, worn key... shall I continue?
