Unfortunetly Cadillacs have way to many control modules anyway, So I would be able to tell you what this is just by numbers. And Cadillac is stingy with their parts and don't like to release them to parts stores, like chrysler. What is your car doing or not doing, maybe I can tell you what it is from symptoms.
Randy, did not think this transmitted. Anyway, I bought this used about a year and a half ago as a lemon law but it has 86k so it works as a car. New batteries in car and fob. It has push button start that does not work all the time, namely engage starter. When this happens with numerous attempts it almost always starts. Had to have it towed as it did not one time (May). As it sat in the driveway I noticed about dusk the headlights and rearlights went on by themselves and the fob was out of range. Of course it started right up aftwerwards. Took to dealer. Did not act up there as it is intermittant, they put in a dashboard switch. Suggested starter but it kicks *** when engaged so I'm skeptical of that.Problem continues and did so yesterday.I Hear this "relay trying to engage type of noise zzzzzzzzzzz " coming from trunk. So I removed covers and found this module. Thinking of having it checked or replaced. It has a cover(screws) that I'm thinking of removing and looking for a relay. There is s starter relay listed but it says it's in the wiring harness but where. So there you have it.
There is a starter relay , but it is located either under the hood or under the rear seat. And of course the module you pulled is the remote start module. There are relays in it also. I fix some modules, but the main reason the ones I fix is from moisture, oxidation, corrosion.. What I do is open them up and use a soft brass brush and clean them. I also use brake clean on them (no residue, dries fast). When corrosion is so bad as to break pins I solder wires in the modules and hook them directly to the harness. This is worth a shot as corrosion will make modules do funny things. And another thought is that the frequency that is being transmitted on the module. There could be something in your area that has a similar frequency. To remedy this you would have to open up the harness and wrap the wires with foil. I have done this a couple of times before and seemed to help. Not really sure though. When you did threw harnesses like I do you can find where the manufacturer has done this. Maybe they forgot to do yours. You know what they say" if your car was built on a Monday don't buy it. Because everyone has a hangover.... Hope this helps you
I don't know of anybody that rebuilds the smaller modules. Here is another thought on the wiring. Most communication wire are colored purple and are small gauge, Again you have to get in the harness , but to pull these wires out of the harness and twist them. This gives it an electromagnetic field as not to let outside interference in. You see this on all the speed sensor wires. Also if the is any big power wires in with them try to separate them from the harness. I would guess your module not to be bad. Just the frequency thing going on here.

Wow, you really got a handle on this. It's odd you mention interfering signals. This happened twice @ one of my favorite restaurants and I thought the same. I also have a garage door opener in the car and this may be just coincidence but as frustration was setting in @ a no start and trying to figure this thig out I pushed the garage door opener and viola started yet it did not work @ other no starts. The noise is defintely coming from back and it may be under the seat. Didn't have anyone around this last episode as button pusher. May have to get very long stick for a one man operation. Module does not appear to have been exposed to too much moisture judging solely from outside appearance and surrounding area. Will crack it open and see what I see. Perhaps a relay. Any ideas hoe and where I can get this thing tested? In Pittsburgh PA. Gosh thanks so much.
