Where is the crankshaft sensor location on lanos 2001 ? I changed my camshaft position sensor and the timing belt, but the engine light still on with the same code and the mechanic said it's the crankshaft sensor that needs to be replace, but after 3 or 4 ignition cycle the light will go off then it'll go on again.

Both the single cam and twin cam engines use the teeth on the crank pulley for crankshaft sensor which is bolted in bracket attached to block near oil pressure switch, hopefully you didnt dent(bent) teeth on crank pulley from dropping it or putting pulley down a bit roughly because they bend really eazy.
also is the crank pulley bolted up in correct position?
is the timming belt tension correct from when you did cam belt?
if tension wrong or timming out by a tooth it will set crank sensor codes, even possibly cam sensor codes and if you get timming out more than 3 teeth either way(advanced or ********) you will bend valves.

Remove the driver side rear ignition coil bolts. Reposition the coil. Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector. # Use penetrating oil and allow the oil to soak around the CKP sensor prior to removing the sensor. You're looking at left, rear side of engine.
CAMSHAFT POS.
front side of engine on the drives side about half way up the timing cover, not hard to get to.

I can't find the location of the crankshaft postion sensor in my 2000 Hyundai sonata

My online Sonata manual shows these possibilities, but does not identify which applies specifically to 2000 Sonata.
Also, when you talk to the dealership parts counter, you'll need to know whether your 2000 Sonata is (a) 4-cylinder 2.4L MFI DOHC engine, or (b) 6-cylinder 2.5L MFI DOHC engine.
Its easy to tell - just count your spark plug wires.

-- begine excerpt from 2000 Hyundai Sonata Repair guide --

The crankshaft position sensor is located next to the flywheel.
The crankshaft position sensor is located next to the flywheel/torque converter.
The camshaft position sensor is located on the engine near the timing belt cover and under the upper radiator hose.
The crankshaft position sensor is located on the driver-s side of the vehicle, down by the lower radiator hose.
The crankshaft position sensor is located on the engine near the crankshaft pulley.
The crankshaft position sensor is located at the front of the engine near the timing belt.

High idle stalls at lights code for crank sensor

Crankshaft and Camshaft Position Sensors Camshaft Position Sensor Engine timing is determined from the relationship between the crankshaft and camshaft. This relationship is maintained by a timing chain or timing belt. The Engine Management System does not control engine timing but it does monitor the relative position and speed of these shafts by monitoring signals generated by sensors. The Engine Management System (EMS) uses signals generated by the camshaft position sensor to synchronize fuel injection to the valve sequence and for the on-board diagnostic procedure for misfire detection. The EMS energizes the injector at or near the time the intake valve opens. For misfire diagnosis, the EMS compares the number of camshaft sensor reference pulses and the number of crankshaft position sensor reference pulses received. If the EMS receives an incorrect number of pulses Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC’s) should be stored in the EMS.
If the camshaft position sensor or circuit is faulty most engines will start. Some engine management systems will then default to a pre-programmed injector firing sequence. All injectors may be energized simultaneously or all of the injectors on one bank may be energized at the same time. If the CMP data is required for misfire detection and reliable CMP data is not present misfire detection would probably be suspended.
Related Symptoms The following symptoms can be caused by an intermittent wiring connection or faulty signal to the EMS:
  • Extended crank time with a cold engine
  • Intermittent rough running
  • Unstable idle
  • Bucking
  • Hesitation
  • Stumble
  • Chuggle
  • Poor fuel economy
  • Stalling on acceleration
Crankshaft Position Sensor Engine speed is a very important input to the Engine Management System (EMS). Crankshaft speed and position are the basis for many calculations made by the computer. Crankshaft position values are transmitted to the computer by pickup coils also known as Permanent Magnet (P/M) generators, hall-effect sensors or optical sensors. The Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP) also known as engine speed sensor is located in close proximity to the crankshaft.
In addition the EMS uses minute variations in the CKP sensor data to determine engine misfire. The EMS uses this information in conjunction with the camshaft position sensor to perform misfire diagnostics.
Related Symptoms: No Start/Intermittent Start Condition – Can be caused by a faulty crankshaft position sensor due to loose connections, bad grounds, high resistance in the circuit, or opens in the circuit

2001 neon shuts off while driving. will not start at all.it turns over but does not sound as normally would. i have been researching on the web( getting code 0340 camshaft position circuit) and fingers are...

p0340 is camshaft position sensor fault code..if engine sounds funny turning over or faster than it used to be,sounds like you have a broken timing belt..if not, most likely sensor has failed..located on end of cylinder head near battery..small square sensor with4 mounting bolts, and a 3 wire connector..if your timing belt is broken, you more than likely have some engine damage due to valve to piston contact

Locating camshaft positioning sensor on 2000 Daewoo Laganza

hi,
it is under the upper timing belt cover between the camshaft gears. According to the manual touching anything related to timing belt requires removing million parts including right front wheel. I suspect this might be an overkill just to remove upper timing belt cover.

So my advice would be to get it done by some mechanic as u will not be able to do it and may damage other parts also.

Thanks!
Sandy
