I have a 1999 Ford Escort. It started idling fast a few weeks ago with an engine code. The code said something about the idle air contro valve. I replaced it. It worked good for about two weeks. The check engine light came back on with the same code. I called Advance Auto to see if they would replace the idle air control valve. Advance Auto replaced it and it worked fine for a couple of days. It started idling fast again w/no engine code this time. It starts idling fast usually after going up a mountain. Once it starts idling fast it won't quit now for about one minute after you stop. It idles between two and three thousand rpms when idling fast. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

My 1997 Escort 1800 16v has an erratic idle when warm/hot and sometimes cuts out when cold. Could this be the idle speed control valve?
