Audi 2001 A6

My Audi is not shifting correctly it sticks in the lower gears and will not shift into the higher gears which causes the RPM 's to stay in 3 or 4 and the motor sounds terrible and I lose power. I took it to a mechanic and they said that it does not show up on the computer that there is anything wrong . Also could it be that my idicator light is not operating correctly.

If you are using an Automatic, there could be slipping in the tranny, Replace the fluid, or take it to a transmission shop, could also be a torque converter issue.

Service the anti lock brake system and have a diagnostic test done to find out exactly what parts are giving you the trouble codes.

My 2004 mazda b 2300 (105,000 miles) "bucks" when i shift up (usually at about 2000 rpm or less)

The engine may misfire and/or buck while driving at freeway speeds with no fault code stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This can be caused by an intermittent fault with the camshaft synchronizer assembly. This condition can be diagnosed by monitoring knock sensor data as per Ford service bulletin #05-22-12. Replacement of the synchronizer assembly will be required to correct this concern.

Mitsubishi Eclipse, 5 speed man. trans - Won't shift after driving 20 minutes...

indicates a problem in the spigot bush in the crank shaft
it is dry and when it heats up , it is seizing on the input shaft(clutch shaft) of the transmission
up shifting is fairly easy as the hear synchro's do the job along with correct engine rpm
down shift overloads the synchro action unless you increase the rpm to match the ration to road speed

Audi a6 2.8 quatro transmission is slipping

Good luck! If you have never rebuilt a transmission, you are going to have a tough time. First thing you need to do is get an obd scanner and see what codes are present.

5-speed 97 escort wagon... on the dash, there will be an orange arrow light that pops up in between shifting gears. the arrow points up/forward. what does it want? does it want me to shift into a higher...

Some cars came with this light to help the driver know when to shift to the next gear. IE: 1st, 2nd, 3rd and so on. It will not indicate when to downshift to a lower gear. It's main function was for optimal mileage and proper RPM shifting. Happy driving.

I just bought a 2001 pontiac grand am se with 99890 miles. I would like to know what rpm is the proper shift point from first to second gear? Mine shifts at like 3000 to 3500 rpm and shifts firmly is that...

Hello, well at what rpm it shifts at of course depends on how hard your pressing the accelerator at that moment,if you floor the accelerator it will shift at higher rpm (red line) but if you take off very slowly it should shift at a much lower rpm....but to answer your question 3000-3500 is a good shifting rpm( if the gauge red lines at 6000-6500 rpm) and firm shifting is a good thing, slow, sluggish and hesitant shifting is a sign of bad things to come from a tranny!! ps keep the engine oil,and transmission oil changed for long life out of your car engine and tranny. good luck and enjoy your new car......yz-maniac.

2002 audi a6 transmission is in safe mode. What

hi, what it usually mean is that you have shifted down in to a lower gear whilst the revs where to high so then your gearbox goes into safe mode to protect it from further damage the only way to reset this is to take the car to a main dealers and have a diagnostic check done.

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

Shift lock light stays on in drive

sounds like something might have gotten into the shifter mechanism. several things could get in there like the accordian strip around the shift handle, coffee or soda could be spilled in there,....ext. another possibilty is the shifter cable going bad . I'd disconnect the shifter cable from the tranny and see if it all moves free then, if not any better take apart the shifter itself and see whats making it hang-up.

Stick shift # Automatic RPM

That is normal,If you do the same speed in 4th gear the rpm's will almost double.

The rpm's will repond faster in a manual than an automatic.

In a manual the engine supplies the power required directly to the gear that you have selected thus the engine rpm's will increase or decrease as needed.
