Hi i have a 93 vitara with water getting into the engine

no engines stated, must be the H25/H27 V6
suzuki has 53 engines
and about 5-10 of those used on GV.
G16 , J20, or H25 series of V6s
toss coin, land on H engines.
on the V6s, the front cover needs to come off
exposing the cam drive chains.
its a horror this engine.

It seems to me someone has been driving it through deep water but it could be something else it maybe a issue with a cooling system you may need to check with a mechanic.

Sounds like your Thermastat is Stuck Closed. Replace it and Should Solve your Problem.

If this does'nt then Check for water in your Oil and oil in your Water, This is a signof a Blown Head Gasket.

YOU HAVE 1999 VITARA .I DIDNT SEE NO 1997 DIESEL VITARA. YOU HAVE 1.6 OR 2.0 ENGINE.TO GET A TRANSMISSION YOU HAVE 2WD OR 4WD THAT WHAT WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN TRANSMISSION.

How do I install the alternator/water pump serpetine belt on my 2001 Grand Vitara V6

check engine means exactly what it says. ck oil, water and all belts. if all ok take it to a natoinal auto parts chain and have them read the codes.most do this for free

Let the system dry for quite a few days before trying to start, otherwise the computer could get ruined. Most water damages the coil packs and crank shaft position sensor. Hopefully water did not go inside your intake manifold and engine. It may not start. The best thing to do is let it thouroughly dry. Have a diagnostic test done to see if any sensors or circuits got ruined.

What you can try is to cool the "camshaft rotary sensor" by pouring (normal) water (which I also did just last week) and it works to start & run the car until the next pull-over. You have to redo pouring water if you stop the endine and does not re-start. But this may be just an emergency solution wherein you have to let the car be serviced by a mechanic.

you need a computer from a1996 .. 93-94-95 used a diffrent injection pump
