How to tell if alltiator fryed

Initial indicator is the battery light comes on at the dash. When mine went, I got about 2 days warning (with me resetting the computer every time I started the car) Then, driving in the dark, everything shut down (except headlights) wouldn't accellerate, or manual shift at all while driving at all.

Replaced alternator twice, battery light come on after 1 day and pulls battery down.

Hi.
There's no good news here !
First charge the battery, start vehicle , allow to idle (put volt meter on ) battery voltage should rise . Turning on headlights and observing rise in heater motor speeds or interior light illuminaion on accelleration should be observed ! If the battery voltage does'nt rise , replace alternator (not what you want to hear but has to be done )
So good alternator and running , everything ok. if vehicle fails to start after this, check battery condition and possibly replace.
Good Luck

My Kia Sorento won't gear down and accelerate when I floor it. Dealer says it's a sensor in the transmission and they need to drop the transmission ($400 labor) to replace the sensor. I have a feeling that...

TPS of Throttle Position Sensor needed adjusting and is the problem and not the gearbox.

This usually happens when the engine light comes on and the TPS is adjusted but most dealers forget (or maybe intentionally) to reset the gearbox P/TRN Fuse.

Whenever the engine light comes on the gearbox is set to run in Sick Slow mode which is why you have this problem.

Before doing anything, try pulling the P/TRN fuse for 5 mins and put it back. Then try the car.

Hope it works, i did for me.
