My 1998 olds intrigue engine cover says it is a 3800 series 3 but I didn't think they made that engine untill 2004. But anyway the car stalls out whenever it wants to sometimes it starts back up, sometimes not, I changed the ICM, coil packs, CPS, ignition switch, and other stuff, everytime I do something it starts and runs for a while but altimatly quits again any sugestions would help and was the series 3 engine an recall replacement ? Thank u for your time. SHANE

SOURCE: 1998 olds intrigue sometimes wont start

Have the crankshaft sensor replaced. This is a very common problem on this engine and it's a job best done at a shop because you need a special puller to get the crankshaft pulley off.

Have a 94 Pontiac Bonneville 3800 motor changed sparkplugs fuel pump crank sensor pig tail crank sensor and with no warning at all driving down the road my car dings an alarm 3 times and dies then it will...

I was just thinking about the sudden stall problem ,and no start problem .Have you checked the coil pack. When the car is cold it should start ,when it warms up ,with the under hood temps ,it will probably stall ,again. Try replacing the coil pack .
Hope this helps

I have a 2001 Olds Intrigue that won't start every once in a while. When it won't start the security light flashes so GM told me it was the passcode and I would have to change the ignition switch...

you can not bypass the security in that car, it is built into the main computer, they have problems with the ignition switch screwing up and the only way to start it while the light flashes is to turn the key to ON but don't crank engine, leave on for 10 to 15 minutes until light goes out then start car.

98 Olds Intrigue (GM 3800) All of a sudden the service engine soon like is flashing and the engine runs very rough when in gear. Especially noticeable when idling in gear... any ideas where to look?

First you need to do is get the trouble code out of the computer this will get you in the right area of the problem then you can trouble shoot it.Sounds like it could be a EGR valve stuck in the open position.

Need to drain coolant from 1998 Olds Intrigue. What is best way? (3800 Engine)

COOLANT CHANGEON THE RADIATOR (LOWER DRIVERS SIDE FACING THE MOTOR) THERE IS A PLASTIC LIKE PLUG THAT YOU TURN COUNTER CLOCKWISE ABOUT 3/4 OF A TURN, THEN YOU CAN PULL IT OUT ABOUT 1/2 AN INCH THIS WILL DRAIN THE RADIATOR, THEN YOU CAN PUSH THE PLUG BACK IN AND TURN IT UNTIL YOU FEEL IT LOCK BACK IN PLACE. REFILL RADIATOR WITH 3 PARTS COOLANT TO 1 PART WATER.
1998-'99 Intrigues equipped with the 3800 engine have a specific process for replacing antifreeze. It is somewhat of a lengthy process and you should refer to your owners manual for doing this. After you empty and flush your system with water (garden hose), only fill the system with green 50/50 antifreeze, NOT Dex-Cool. Avoid Dex-Cool. If you bring your Intrigue to a shop to get serviced, make sure and inform whoever doing repairs and/or leave a note (clearly visible) to NOT use Dex-Cool if they're doing any work pertaining to cooling system.
