The electric lock on the tailgate does not work. It won't lock at all -can't lock it by depressing the driver's door lock button or with the remote. Anyone know where to obtain wiring diagrams for the tailgate?
I don't think you need a wiring diagram.
Jeep had alot of problems with the lock accuator in the tailgate.

I have to same problem except that mine won't unlock. there is an access hole about 2x2 on the inside right that you can manually operate the lock. It is the lock actuator that is defective. I've seen the part on line for about 40 dollars and it doesn't look to difficult to replace.
I used the advice given and was able to open the tailgate, I remove the entire lock mechanism and thoroughly lubed it then cycled it a couple of dozen times before replacing it. then I put two small zip-ties in an X pattern across the clip and rod connection. It works perfectly. I hope this helps someone else.

The tailgate closes properly, and it opens fine. It just will not lock. I have the cover off, and see how it is supposed to operate, but can't figure out what's wrong.
I can only open the tailgate via the remote and not the button on the actual tailgate what does this mean?
