2001 Dodge Ram 1500 Won't Start

My 2001 Ram 1500 5.9L truck quit while driving and wouldn't re-start. Towed it home, changed the fuel pump assembly. Still won't start. Changed cap and rotor, and still won't start. I have fuel pressure at the fuel rail, but it won't fire. Turns over like crazy but wont' fire. Any ideas?

Thanks.....mine was actually a coil as well. I got it up and running about a week ago now. Had spark at the coil, but not as strong as it should be. A friend's dad was able to test it, and as soon as we changed it it fired right up.

        Thanks for the help.

Was driving fine, and all of a sudden it quickly decellerated, steering wheel locked up, and would not start again. Plenty of noise in the attempt, however would not start.
I've so far put a fuel pump in, a new battery, and still same thing. WILL NOT START! I have no idea what it may be however I have pretty much drained my tax return between the battery, the pump, and the very expensive tow. Please help me out.

Jgebert... Have you tried the crankshaft position sensor? I use to have the same problem. While driving it would turn off, but as soon as I replaced this part, I don't have that problem anymore. Good luck and take care.

SOURCE: my guages in my 1984

I am suspecting it is a wiring issue. Check first the fuses. If in case the issue with the fuse, there is still a chance that this may happen you will have to inspect the harness from the gauge for loose connections or exposed conductors which may touch another wire or the body of the car causing a short. Also check the wiring from the column. If it is not the fuses the more the inspection on the wiring should be made. You will have to further search down to the engine if no issues are found on the wires under the dashboard and column.

Have a 2000 Dodge ram with v6 engine that will not start, what can be wrong

Security light on/flashing. Check for spark at the plugs and check fuel pressure. With security, Dodges will start and die, three times, then nothing.

Why won't my 2001 1500 dodge ram start after running out of gas? (i've put gas in it)

You should measure the fuel pressure. When you run out of gas the fuel pump is not cooled by fuel. This can cause a pump that is ready to quit to fail. There could be other causes but I think the fuel pump is the most likely cause.

I hope this helps.

My daughter has a 2000 dodge stratus and it quit on her and wouldn't start. She had it towed home and it started right off when she got there. Could this be a fuel pump issue or relay? Could the pump...

It could be the fuel pump. The relay could have gotten too hot and made the fuel pump quit until it cooled itself down. Also, the fuel pump could just be going bad. If thats the case, sometimes it will shut off, and back on. Hope this helps, James Booth. Please Rate this. :)

No gauges- won't start. 2001 Dodge Ram 1500

It's almost never a pcm. You need to check things like the fuel pressure when this happens. I'd take it to a better shop as alot of tests require special equipment.
