One day my brake light came on. I pulled over and checked my emergency brake and it was not applied. I had someone check my brakes and they said they were fine. How can I make this light go off?

Are you talking about the light which warns you that the parking brake is on? if it is the parking brake, that light is turned on by a switch operated by the lever or pedal you push on or pull to set the brake. find that switch and replace it. it will be in the console with a pull lever type handle, or under the dash for a push pedal type parking brake.

the other brake light monitors the integrity of the brake system, it is also operated by a switch which screws into the system. i would check near the master cylinder.

VW golf mk4 press brake warning light not coming on

What brake are you talking about? The emergency brake or the brake pedal. Warning lights only come on when 1, there is a leak ing the system while driving and you loose pressure, 2. upon starting the vehicle as a bulb check, 3. When you apply the emergency brake. Have the brake switch on the pedal and emergency brake checked also check the bulb. If the bulb lit upon startup, it is probably the switch. Please give more details so that we can be better able to help you.

1989 GMC SIERRA BRAKE LIGHT IN DASH STAYS ON [CHECKED FOR AIR IN BRAKE LINES-NO AIR] [BRAKE FLUID LEVEL GOOD] [BRAKE PEDAL PULLED UP] IN DASH BRAKE LIGHT STAYS ON

Check your emergency brake. Make sure it isn't partially pressed in. Try unplugging the switch to the emergency brake and see if the light goes out; if it does the switch is bad.

I replaced my rear brakes. Does the emergency brake automatically adjust itself?

Yes.....and no. Emergency brake should have been checked during brake pad replacement.
Most do adjust to new pads...ie: return to factory adjustment setting due to new pads .

The E brake lever should be applying braking to the wheels after three clicks are heard during application of the Emergency brake.

Lift rear of car and apply emergency brake to the third click. Now both rear wheels should drag equally but not be locked up.
.
If not, adjustment required.

However, late model cars need a scanner to pull back the pistons and install pads.

Rear brake lights do not work.

The brake light that is on the dash is for the emergency brake...When that light is on that is supposed to tell you that the emergency brake is applied if the brake is not applied then you need to service the emergency brake. And on the brake pedal there is a coupler that is hooked up to the pedal bracket that wire may be soft set try gently snapping it into place.

Brake problem on chevy cavlier

How is the brake fluid level in the master cylinder? If it's low, the brake light will come on. The right rear wheel and drum need to be removed to inspect the brakes and see what is going on. Your description sounds like there may be some brake hardware floating around inside the drum. Let me know what u find. Curt
