Firstly, if it's fuel injected, there is no choke. That cold start mode is actuated by the computer. IF it has a carb on it, the choke is opened a little to keep it running with a vacuum line connected from the choke dashpot to the carb base when cold till warm-up, then a heat spring pulls the choke full open. Your gonna have to make up your mid as to whether it fuel injection or natural aspiration with a carburetor.

Check the fuel pressure regulator. generally "failure" position is full open which will richen up the fuel mixture. also check vacuum line to the regulator for cracks and good connection.

My 4.0 V6 will not run when it's cold unless i hold the accelerator down till it's warm?

I'd say the throttle doesn't choke properly. Older carburetors used mechanical link with a thermostat to choke the carburetor meaning the intake flaps would close so the fuel mix would be extra rich in fuel. Once it was warm the thermostat would disengage and the throttle would open up allowing more air and thus better efficiency. Not knowing how old the vehical is makes this a bit tough. Have you cleaned the MAS sensor? Bad air flow detection could make the computer think it's running too rich so it may lean out the fuel equation to compensate.

Acts like the choke is stuck closed it won't stay started and runs ruff until engine warms up then its fine. What do i do?

Well the choke has an electric part that heats up and makes the choke open in a few minutes. As soon as the engine starts the choke should open about 25 percent by way of a vac pull-off.
You can take the air cleaner off and watch the choke while someone starts the engine cold. If the choke does not open after it starts, check the choke pull-off. You can also open the choke with a screwdriver to see if the engine clears up.

Check the fuelpreasure make sure you are gettin g enough fuel, next is check the idle air control valve, it sounds like its getting to much air and not enough fuel if you block off intake you air restricting the air, also the map sensor check that also.

2001 mazda tribute v6 runs rough cold ildes at about 200 rpm till it warms up then its ok what could it be

I replaced the upper & lower manifold runners seals, now it runs perfect, The reason it runs ok when warm is because the manifolds expand and seal the gaps on the surfaces that the worn old seals are not closing. Also change the spark plugs.

1981 dodge power ram carb problem with choke sticking and deisling some times at shut off

One problem is related to the other. The dieseling is caused by a rich air/fuel mixture which is caused by the closing choke. So you need to adjust the choke to where it is slightly open when the engine is cold.If it is electric then it has a thermostatic device that positions the choke just cracked open when cold and slowly opens as the engine heats up.Whats happening is the choke may actually be loose and when the engine shuts off the vacuum pulls the choke close creating the combustable rich fuel mixture(if you watched the choke when someone else turns off the engine you'll see the choke flapping while the engine is dieseling).Try putting a screw driver in the carb(with engine running) blocking the choke from closing. Then shut the engine off.It shouldnt diesel. You may have to replace the carb thermostat
