Code 1 Oxygen Content-
Code 10 Intake Air Temperature (IAT)
Code 14 Idle Air Control (IAC) valve
Sounds like the oxygen sensor (code 1) is recieving more fuel content (or unburned fuel) than it can measure...
The intake air temperature sensor isn't reading within range because...
The Idle air control valve (basically an electronic choke) isn't opening up to allow enough air into the engine to create a clean fuel burn, creating burned valves (probably intake valves) from unburned fuel.

thanx but which do i replace ??????????????

Replace the idle air control. Once replaced, reset computer by disconnecting battey negative for about 5mins, and double check that there are no vacuum leaks.

thank you is it possable to clean the one on the car

after removing it, you can clean it with an aerosol throttle cleaner followed by some spray lubricant. Its a possibility that it may do the job.

I have a fast idle while cold and hot on mine and I'm getting a twenty short flash code on my 1991 honda civic hatchback. I believe it's the 1.5 engine but not sure. i replaced the AIC valve with a used one which may also been bad. i too cleaned both of them and it did not make a difference but I still wouldn't know if either one is bad so i'm not sure if cleaning it helps. i've seen videos on utube of cleaning them the same way mentioned with good results but that was on the 92-95 models. can you shed some light on the twenty short flashes and what could possibly be wrong with my car? i've checked and sprayed really well to see if there are any leaks, and when i disconect the the vacum to the AIC valve i can feel a vacum and when i open it up to air, it defenately increases the idle even more.

1990 Honda Civic under 100,000 kms. Head gasket fixed 2008, again in 2009 and now we've been told it's going again....is this normal...or have we been duped by a bad repair shop twice?

unfortunately, even if it is a bad repair shop, it is normal. if the head gasket is blown, then oil and coolant, which are the two important fluids escape the engine quickly, causing damage to the whole motor. the best route to take would either have been rebuilding the motor, or getting a used one. like i said, the whole motor gets damaged, and even in trying to replace only the damaged parts, it is nearly impossible to get all of them without simply rebuilding the motor, so your best step would be a rebuild. i hope this helps. goodluck

I keep pretty good care of my 1989 Honda Civic DX 4-Dr, manuel transmission. After 22 years, it now has 381,100 miles. It still runs well except it burns a little bit of oil. I have other cars... but I...

Well being well kept up I sure you are burning oil through the valve stem seals.... and new rings too... the head kit should be around 120 to 170 bucks includes every thing from the head up.... and rings should only run you 50 bucks.... If your clutch is strong I would not worry about it.... I have two accord's with over 300,000 on them.... :)

89 honda civic fails smog

bingles,,,have you changed the oilseals on the valve stems or used the old ones?these tend to harden after a few years and even a slight leak may lead to high emissions, also v,important did you use the old head gasket or replace it? always use a new gasket as an old one has already been compressed and may cause a cross-flow leak into one or all of the piston chambers.
hope this helps.

89 honda civic lx overheating

Thats my guess, one hose leak, two head gasket, three, crack in head somewhere. Of course make sure the thermastat is working. If it is seized thats a problem to. If you get the head off make sure it is resurfaced before you install the head gasket. Good luck
